The Unit delivers the strategic and operational management of: Bushland and biodiversity protection and restoration including threatened species and pest species management and the control of bush fire risk Catchment, waterway and coastal management including ecological, risk and restoration programs Strategic environmental systems & programs, climate change adaptation/resilience and corporate sustainability Environmental education, volunteering and engagement Development engineering including subdivision works, development approvals, co-ordination of s94 works delivery and certification of development works Stormwater asset maintenance, renewals and design and construction of new assets Floodplain risk planning and managementNorthern Beaches Council is committed to safeguarding children and young people. The position will undertake works/activities in strategic and operational bushland management. The role will also action customer requests and assisting with other field work as required, including the supervision of contractors.Key Responsibilities Include Strategic and operational bushland management Scoping and proposing projects Writing and administering contracts Managing budgets and bushland regeneration contracts Overseeing works and liaising with a range of internal and external stakeholders Proactive engagement with the community and meeting the requirements of Council’s Customer Experience Strategy The Bushland Restoration Officer will require demonstrated experience and an excellent understanding of bushland and biodiversity management, threatened species, pest species control, and associated processes e.g. Bushfire hazard.About YouWe’re looking for an experienced bushland management specialist to join our Bushland and Biodiversity team.
