KGS Group is seeking a collaborative and business‑minded Business Analyst to join our Winnipeg office. In this role, you’ll partner closely with Management and Finance teams to translate business goals into clear requirements, streamline processes, and enable data‑driven decision‑making across our professional services operations. We work in nearly every area of engineering and have led significant public and private projects across Canada and internationally.Our work in Manitoba ranges from the design and construction of major hydro dams to the first large diameter tunneling works in the province to a variety of engineering services for noteworthy local landmarks such as The Forks Riverwalk, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the Bell MTS Centre and Birds Hill Lake, to name a few.The RoleIn this role, you’ll work closely with leaders, project accounting, and corporate functions to streamline workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and support the successful rollout of technology solutions. You’ll have the opportunity to influence enterprise‑level decisions, strengthen financial performance reporting, and work with senior management, project delivery teams, and technology partners. While based in Winnipeg, you may occasionally travel to support regional offices.Your Key Responsibilities:Partner with stakeholders in Management & Finance to clarify objectives, map processes, and define detailed business and functional requirements for systems (ERP, project accounting, BI, CRM, and related tools). Lead discovery activities including current‑state assessments, gap analysis, user stories, acceptance criteria, and backlog prioritization.Design and validate KPIs, dashboards, and financial/operational reports (e.g., utilization, margin, WIP, AR/AP, forecasting) with a focus on accuracy and consistency.Support improved data literacy, data quality, and reporting clarity across the organization.Collaborate with Technology, Finance, and vendors on configuration, testing (SIT/UAT), training, change management, and post go-live stabilization. Contribute to data governance (definitions, lineage, stewardship), access models, and auditability for finance and management information. Create clear documentation—requirements, test plans, training materials, release notes—and facilitate workshops, demos, and decision‑making sessions.Analyze system usage and performance data to identify enhancements that deliver measurable value.Recommend and prioritize iterative improvements aligned with organizational objectives.About You4–8+ years as a Business Analyst (preferably in engineering consulting, AEC, or professional services environments). Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or related field; CBAP/PMIPBA or similar is an asset. Strong understanding of finance/management processes—project accounting, budgeting & forecasting, month end close, revenue recognition, and utilization. Familiarity with ERP/project accounting systems, BI/reporting (e.g., Power BI), and CRM; proficiency with requirements management and agile/hybrid delivery practices. Comfort with data models, SQL basics, and building/validating dashboards and financial reports; strong attention to detail and reconciliation. Ability to engage executives and SMEs, translate complex topics, and drive consensus, excellent documentation skills. Experience coordinating UAT, training, and adoption activities; pragmatic approach to prioritization and risk management.
