Pay Rate: 95.00/hour, depending on experienceContract Length: 6 Months Location: Calgary, Alberta Raise is currently hiring a Business Analyst on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of Canada's top comprehensive research UniversitiesNote: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicableDescriptionThe Business Analyst in this role will have proven experience supporting large-scale pilot or proof-of-concept initiatives involving 200–500 participants. The ideal candidate will play a key role in facilitating participant engagement, ensuring smooth operational execution, and collaborating with internal teams and vendor partners throughout the pilot lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesPilot/Proof-of-Concept (PoC) Operations:Provide hands-on support to participants, ensuring a smooth and positive experience throughout the pilot lifecycle.Manage all operational aspects, including cohort onboarding, maintaining a communications cadence, scheduling, consent/opt-in tracking, issue triage, de-duplication, and clear escalation paths.Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination:Act as a central point of contact to align internal U of C teams and external partners/vendors.Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs), track risks and change requests, and maintain a detailed RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies).Participant Support & Knowledge Management:Apply a helpdesk mindset to provide participant support at scale, managing ticket/work-queue processes.Create and maintain FAQs/knowledge base articles and use pattern-spotting across tickets to proactively address common issues.Research & Data Analysis (Mixed-Methods):Design and execute mixed-methods feedback gathering (e.g., surveys, structured interviews, usability sessions), focusing on sampling and bias reduction.Perform quantitative analysis (descriptive statistics, cohort comparisons, funnel/engagement metrics) using tools like Excel/Sheets, Power BI/Tableau, and basic SQL.Conduct qualitative analysis (coding themes, affinity mapping, sentiment synthesis) to convert anecdotes into defensible, objective insights.Apply experiment literacy to understand test/rollout design, define clear success criteria, and separate signal from noise.Reporting & Storytelling:Synthesize findings into clear, actionable summary reports and exec-ready briefs that address the "So what? Now what?" with clear recommendations, risks, and next steps.Develop effective visualization & data narratives (charts/tables) tailored to the audience (e.g., operations vs. executive) and be prepared to defend methodology and limitations.Productivity & Automation (AI Focus):Leverage AI Copilots (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, O365 plugins) for drafting surveys, summarizing interviews, analyzing transcripts, and generating report outlines.Exhibit strong prompting & review discipline, verifying AI outputs and structuring prompts effectively.Utilize light automation tools (e.g., Forms/SharePoint/Power Automate or Google/Zapier) to streamline intake, reminders, and data collection processes.Security, Privacy, and Data Integrity:Ensure data handling basics are followed: proper storage of PII, access controls, redaction, and a least-privilege mindset.Maintain info-sec aware workflows including encrypting exports, version control, audit trails, and adherence to vendor data-sharing guidelines.Implement quality controls like data validation, duplicate detection, and reconciliation across sources.Qualifications3-5 years of progressive experience in a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or Program Coordinator role focused on innovation, process improvement, or technology implementation (e.g., pilots, system rollouts).Advanced proficiency in Excel/Sheets. Experience with SQL basics for data retrieval. Proficiency with at least one major BI tool for dashboarding (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or Looker).Expertise in survey design, structured interviewing, and applying rigor to both quantitative and qualitative data collection.Experience with project/work management tools like Jira/Asana and documentation/collaboration tools like Confluence/Notion or SharePoint.Hands-on experience using AI Copilots (Microsoft Copilot or O365 plugins) for analysis support and proficiency with light automation platforms (Power Automate, Google AppSheet, or Zapier).Demonstrated experience managing all phases of small-to-medium scale pilots or Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs), from participant recruitment to final reporting.Proven track record of coordinating complex activities involving multiple internal stakeholders and external vendors.Experience in a large, complex organization, preferably in the post-secondary education, public sector, or research environment.Education and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Data Science, Social Sciences, or a related quantitative field. A Master's degree is considered an asset.Certifications (Highly Valued): Business Analysis certification (e.g., CBAP, CCBA).Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM) or Agile/Scrum certification (e.g., CSM).Relevant data analysis/BI tool certifications (e.g., Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst Associate).Strong commitment to providing excellent support to pilot participants and a calm demeanor under pressure.Looking for meaningful work?
