Business Development Manager ResponsibilitiesIdentify new opportunities: Research and identify potential growth areas and viable income streams for the business, the following roles Architectural, Design Certifier, Assigned Certifier, PSDP, Quantity Surveying, Fire EngineeringGenerate leads: Proactively pursue new business through methods such as market research, networking, cold calling.Develop proposals: Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals to pitch services to prospective clients.Manage client relationships: Negotiate with stakeholders and nurture key accounts to their full potential, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.Stay up to date on industry developments, market positioning, and competitor strategies to inform business planning.Collaborate internally: Working with all teams and the Etenders team.Skills and qualificationsRelevant third-level qualification preferred to be it Architectural or Engineering qualification if possible3–7 years of experience in sales, business development, or account management. A strong track record of hitting sales targets is crucial.Training or certification in bid/proposal writing (e.g. APMP) is an advantageExceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential for building rapport with clients and stakeholders. The role also demands leadership, strategic thinking, and strong self-motivation.Proficiency with IT, managing leads, reporting, and tracking progress. You should also possess commercial acumen and strong analytical skills.Career progression: With experience, a BDM can advance to a Senior Business Development Manager or Director level. Some move into related fields like marketing or become a business consultant or analyst. Strong performance can even lead to executive positions, such as Chief Executive Officer.Experience in a live office environmentFamiliarity with Architectural roles and servicesFamiliarity with public sector procurement portals such as eTendersKnowledge of bid processes or proposal writing best practices
