Freelance Business Development & Social Enterprise SpecialistAre you a growth-minded strategist with a passion for purpose-driven business?Movement On The Ground is seeking a proactive, entrepreneurial, and impact-oriented freelance Business Development & Social Enterprise Specialist to initiate and launch two of our social enterprise projects: our fashion atelier in Greece and our Lots of Lesvos olive oil. These initiatives are in their early stages, offering a unique opportunity to shape, position, and bring them to market successfully.This is a chance to connect international production with broader market opportunities; turning ethical products into sustainable income streams that strengthen our mission and empower the people we work with.A special aspect of both initiatives is the central role that camp residents in Lesvos play in the production process. Their craftsmanship, skills, and involvement are at the heart of these initiatives.In this position, you’ll bridge strategy and execution: developing go-to-market strategies, building strong partnerships, scaling sales, and elevating our brand presence across the Netherlands and Greece. Over the past ten years, we’ve impacted over 250,000 people through community-led projects across Europe, the MENA region, and Africa.You will…Lead Strategic GrowthDevelop and implement strategic growth plans for both the fashion atelier and the Lots of Lesvos products, including identifying whether and how these initiatives can scale or be replicated.Align market ambitions with production capacity and product development in Greece, ensuring the internal and external structures required to meet demand are in place, such as distribution channels and staffing.Drive the transition from small pilots into financially sustainable, independent social enterprises.Identify & Build New Business OpportunitiesResearch and secure new European retail, boutique, specialty food, and e-commerce partners.Explore ethical concept stores, strategic collaborations, and niche market opportunities aligned with our social enterprise mission.Expand visibility and distribution across the Dutch and Greek markets and beyond.Cultivate Relationships that Drive ImpactBuild and maintain strong relationships with partners, vendors, stockists, distributors, and online platforms.Identify and approach potential online or marketplace partners (e.g., CRISP, Picknic, and similar platforms), collect relevant proposals, and share them with internal team members for evaluation.Act as the primary relationship contact while collaborating closely with production and design teams.Travel regularly between Amsterdam and Greece to ensure strategy, branding, and production stay aligned.Execute Sales & Marketing With Purpose Lead sales efforts across fashion and food products, from pitches to pop-ups, fairs, tastings, and events.Represent our brands at trade shows and conferences in NL, and later, in Greece.Create compelling presentations and tailored proposals for potential partners.Support marketing alignment with internal teamsAnalyze Markets & Trends for GrowthConduct market research across the fashion and specialty food sectors.Identify customer insights, sustainability trends, and competitive dynamics to inform product development and positioning.What you bring…Proven freelance experience in business development, sales, or marketing, ideally with product-based social enterprises or purpose-driven brands.Strong understanding of retail partnerships, boutique sales, specialty food distribution, and e-commerce/online marketplace partnerships.Familiarity with CRM systems and sales pipeline management.Excellent relationship-building and communication skills in English; Dutch and Greek are a plus.A highly independent and self-driven way of working, able to take ownership, set priorities, and move projects forward with minimal supervision.A strategic yet hands-on mindset — comfortable going from planning to pitching to analyzing results.Ability and willingness to travel regularly between the Netherlands and Greece.Entrepreneurial energy, cultural sensitivity, and a passion for turning ethical products into sustainable impact.What we offerFreelance contract (ZZP) for 6 months, with potential extension.Hybrid working: partly remote, partly from our Amsterdam office.A meaningful assignment contributing to sustainable income-generating initiatives.Close collaboration with international teams and high autonomy in shaping two social enterprises.Are you ready to combine strategy, creativity, and purpose to build sustainable social enterprises?
