The roleThis career opportunity is available at Santam Client Solutions for the Business Intelligence Developer who will be based in Cape Town.What will you do?We're looking for a BI Analyst–Developer who thrives at the intersection of business and data. This is a dual-role position where you will support business stakeholders day-to-day and also design and build scalable Power BI reporting solutions that drive insight and decision-making.You’ll be embedded into specific business areas (e.g., sales, servicing, retetions) on a rotating basis to:Assist with ad-hoc data questionsTroubleshoot report issuesTranslate business requirements into clear BI solutionsBuild and maintain Power BI reports and dataflowsYou’ll work as part of a growing BI team that is transforming a legacy Excel-based reporting setup into a scalable, governed Power BI environment.What will make you successful in this role?Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness SupportServe as the first point of contact for business users in your assigned departmentAnswer ad-hoc data queries, support decision-makers, and guide users on interpreting reportsWork closely with stakeholders to clarify reporting requirementsProactively identify reporting gaps or improvement opportunities understand needs and translate into reporting solutionsFacilitate monthly reporting processes that rely on data (commissions, management reporting and monthly analysis)Business SupportDesign and develop Power BI dashboards and reports based on business needsBuild dataflows and transform data using Power Query (M) and DAXEnsure data is accurate, consistent, and follows BI governance standardsHelp migrate existing Excel-based reports into automated, scalable Power BI assetsParticipate in peer reviews and team-based development workWhat You Need To SucceedTechnical Must-Haves2+ years’ experience with Power BI developmentStrong Power Query (M) and DAX skillsStrong SQL skills and understanding of relational databasesExperience working with Power BI Service and DataflowsFamiliarity with Power BI Premium CapacityExposure to Agile tools like Jira/DevOps for managing tasks (advantageous)Bonus: Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or Power AutomateQualification And ExperienceBachelor's degree in Information Systems, Stats, Commerce, or related field (preferred)2+ years of BI or analytics experience in a business-facing environmentPersonal AttributesDrives resultsDeciding and initiating actionLeading and supervisingCollaboratesClient focusFlexibility and adaptabilityCultivates innovationStrategic decision makingAnalytical thinkingInfluencing/ gaining commitmentBusiness acumenCoaching and developmentWho Are YouSantam is the market leader in the general insurance industry in Southern Africa.
