JOB DESCRIPTION: Business Manager - COORole Title: Business ManagerReports to: Founder & Creative DirectorLocation: Lagos, NigeriaRole PurposeThe Business Manager - COO is responsible for transforming The Ladymaker’s creative vision into structured, efficient, and profitable business operations. The role ensures coordination and accountability across departments, drives workflow discipline, and supports growth with strong financial and operational systems. This role enables the Creative Director to focus on brand vision, design direction, and strategic partnerships, while ensuring the business runs smoothly, sustainably, and profitably.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Planning & ExecutionTranslate the Creative Director’s priorities into business plans, timelines, and deliverables.Lead weekly leadership alignment meetings and quarterly operational reviews.Establish and track KPIs for production, sales, HR, admin, and operations teams.Drive continuous improvement and process optimization.2. Operational & Production OversightEnsure production timelines are clear, realistic, and consistently met.Strengthen coordination between Production, Sourcing, Sales, and Admin.Implement workflow systems that reduce delays and improve quality control.Oversee inventory management, stock planning, and replenishment controls.3. Financial & Cost ManagementWork with Finance to set budgets, monitor expenses, and manage cash flow.Track revenue performance and ensure operational decisions are cost-conscious.Implement cost-saving measures in production, sourcing, and administration.Support pricing reviews and profitability assessments.4. Sales & Customer ExperienceMonitor sales performance across studio and e-commerce channels.Ensure the customer experience reflects brand values of luxury, culture, and warmth.Work with Marketing to align visibility efforts with revenue outcomes.Support expansion opportunities including pop-ups, wholesale, and partnerships.5. People, Culture & Team PerformanceOversee HR and Admin to ensure a healthy, respectful, and structured work environment.Implement clear job roles, performance expectations, and leadership accountability.Reinforce The Ladymaker values of craftsmanship, discipline, integrity, and cultural pride.Support training and professional development initiatives.6. Administration & Compliancel Ensure smooth day-to-day office and studio operations.l Manage vendor and supplier relationships for best value and reliability.l Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and labor requirements.Required Experience & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, Management, or related fields (MBA is an advantage).6+ years leadership experience in fashion, retail, manufacturing, hospitality, or consumer brand operations.Proven success managing people, workflows, production, and finances.Strong organizational structure-building and process-implementation capability.High emotional intelligence and ability to work in a creative but fast-paced environment.Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management.Key CompetenciesStructured, disciplined, and execution-orientedStrong leadership without micromanagementFinancially literate and commercially mindedCalm, firm, and solution-driven under pressureUnderstands and respects creative environmentsCulturally aware and aligned with The Ladymaker aesthetic and narrative expression
