In this role, you will lead our commercial efforts on large-scale FPSO and offshore operating contracts, as well as other highly structured deal frameworks. We are committed to the highest standards of quality and safety in the offshore industry, delivering long-term value to our partners and stakeholders.The Business Manager will be based at Altera’s main office in Trondheim, or alternatively at one of Altera’s other office locations in Norway or Aberdeen, depending on practical considerations.Some of the things you will be doingLead commercial strategy and negotiations for large, long-term offshore contracts — from concept through to execution. Own the commercial and contractual workstream: ensuring proactive, solution-driven collaboration with Legal, Finance, Technical and Operations teams. You will work closely with other internal functional owners as a sparring partner and driver of deliverables, not simply handing off tasks. Structure and negotiate highly complex contracts with a strong sense of judgement — knowing what to protect, what to push, and how to drive alignment across stakeholders. Anticipate operational and technical risks, ensuring agreements are structured to address future challenges and safeguard company value. Inspire and direct multi-disciplinary tender teams, bringing clarity and drive to the process from early engagement to contract close. Deliver concise, insightful recommendations for executive leadership and Board approval, with a quality of output suited to a growth focused private equity-backed environment. Develop and maintain strong relationships with prospective and existing clients, positioning the company as a trusted long-term partner.Some of the things we are looking for10+ years’ experience in the oil & gas, offshore, or related industries, with significant exposure to complex, long-term contracts. Strong literacy in finance, risk allocation, and contractual/legal frameworks for major energy projects. A proven track record of high-stakes negotiation with major international customers. Ability to work at pace: intellectually agile, decisive, and confident in the room with senior counterparties. Solid understanding of technical and operational aspects of offshore projects, enabling you to spot pitfalls and anticipate risks before they crystallise. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills; able to establish credibility with senior executives, internal stakeholders, and external partners alike.Excellent verbal and written skills in English (Norwegian as second language is beneficial) A self-starter with resilience and drive — you take ownership, follow through, and deliver outcomes.
