Business Strategist

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our Zug office as a Business Strategist. In this full-time role, you will work in close partnership with the Managing Director of our Zug location, which is a rapidly growing hub focused on trading crypto assets, including both spot and derivatives markets.You will play a critical role in shaping strategic priorities, supporting business growth, and expanding team capacity. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an entrepreneurial environment within a global trading firm, where innovation, speed, and collaboration drive success.Key responsibilitiesShape and drive strategic priorities:Define and prioritize strategic initiatives that support the continued growth of the Zug office and its crypto trading activities.Assess new business opportunities across spot and derivatives markets, factoring in market size, risk, competitive dynamics, and internal capabilities.Build business cases and execute plans for expanding asset coverage, team capabilities, and operational infrastructure.Support execution and operational excellence:Translate strategy into actionable plans across trading, technology, and support functions.Drive cross functional initiatives to enhance the efficiency and scalability of crypto trading operations.Support the Managing Director in daily operational decision making.Facilitate and run workshops, offsites, and planning sessions to align internal teams on long term goals.Identify bottlenecks and solve ad hoc challenges:Use analytical skills to detect and resolve organizational or operational inefficienciesRespond swiftly to unforeseen challenges with structured problem solving approachesSupport various teams—trading, technology, and support—on ad hoc initiatives as neededMarket and competitive intelligence:Monitor industry trends in crypto assets and digital finance, analyzing their implications for IMC’s strategic positioningMaintain an updated view of the competitive landscape within global crypto tradingContribute to corporate development initiatives such as partnerships, acquisitions, or regulatory engagementRequirements:4-6 years of strategy consultancy experience at a toptier consulting firmPhD or Master’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Physics, Mathematics, Econometrics, or Computer Science)Exceptional problem solving and interpersonal skillsExperience or strong interest in crypto markets, digital finance, or technology driven businessesAbility to work autonomously in a fast paced, dynamic environmentCapable of managing senior stakeholders and contributing across a broad set of initiativesFluent in English; additional European languages are a plusPracticalities:This is a full time, onsite position located in Zug, Switzerland (30 minutes commute from Zurich)100% physical presence at the office is expected to ensure optimal collaboration and real-time decision-makingOccasional travel may be required to coordinate with global teams or attend industry eventsThe role will report to the MD of IMC's Zug office as well as Head of Group Business Strategy
