**No Agencies**Purpose of the Role:As a Buyer for PMC based at our site in Luton, you would be responsible for purchasing the best quality materials and services for the company at the most competitive prices along with ensuring their on-time delivery. This role reports directly to the Operations Director and is expected to work closely with all departments but specifically the production, planning & warehouse teams.Responsibilities:Purchase all materials and services in line with the sales planning processIdentify safety stock, strategic plan for long LT & PMC specific items & maintain optimum stock levelsNegotiate terms and conditions of supply as required including for price increasesSource new suitable suppliers for existing and new materialsEnhance the purchasing function and look for ways to continuously improve its operation.Work with production/engineering to identify make or buy possibilities with cost/benefit in mindControl an agreed monthly budget on purchases against production schedule valueEnsure that all purchase orders are delivered on timeProduce the monthly cashflow reportLiaise with other departments to advise any changes to the scheduleEnsure purchasing records are updated & maintained to ensure system integrityReport monthly on:- Stock value,- Purchase orders value keyed, is it in line with budget?- Shortfall of stock against works orders planWork closely with the engineering team to ensure satisfactory supply of goods for new productsManage engineer change noticesReview, manage and continuously improve supplier performance.Work in accordance with the business’ processes and procedures as appropriate e.g. NDAsOccasionally travel to visit suppliers and to the head office in Biggleswade as requiredCo-operate in undertaking the work of absent colleagues or in assisting in other departments, & accordingly from time to time undertake such other duties or hours of work as may reasonably be required to ensure the employer’s business needs are metRequirements:Office based 4 days a week (5 days during probation) - must be able to reliably commute to our Luton office5+ years purchasing experience ideally in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge of SAP would be desirableExcellent communication skillsExcellent analytical & negotiation skillsA good standard of literacy and numeracyPositive representative of the businessGood standard of computer literacy in Microsoft Office softwareGood judgement & decision makerDetail orientatedGood time managementDemonstrate good leadership skillsHold a current driving licenceThe Buyer will be able to demonstrate the following attributes:Ability to work independently as well as in a teamAbility to communicate effectively with suppliers and other company employeesAbility to contribute their own goals/vision/thoughts/work to colleagues and team membersIn return, the benefits are:23 Days Holiday Per Annum, increasing by one day per year up to a maximum of 25 (in addition to public and bank holidays) – pro rata.Free on-site car parkingCompany socialsWorking hours are Monday - Thursday 8.30am-5.15pm & Friday 8.30am - 1pm
