Job Description

Job Summary & Purpose:The Merchandise Officer is responsible for leading, strategizing, monitoring, and reporting on category performance, including sales, margins, stock holding, and market share. This role operates under the guidance of the Category Head or Merchandising Manager.**Sales and Margin Management** 1. Develop annual budgets and forecasts for assigned categories. 2. Monitor sales performance against targets and adjust strategies as needed. 3. Implement promotional strategies to drive sales and enhance margins.**Supplier Negotiations** - 1. Lead discussions on contract terms to optimize pricing and margins. 2. Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for supplier performance. 3. Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers for better collaboration.**Inventory Management** - 1. Maintain optimal inventory levels across all stores to meet demand. 2. Utilize open-to-buy (OTB) management to control working capital. 3. Conduct regular stock assessments to identify slow-moving or aging products.**Market Awareness and Competitor Analysis** - 1. Analyze market trends to identify new product opportunities. –2. Monitor competitor offerings and pricing strategies for strategic insights. 3. Adapt category strategies in response to market changes and competitor actions.**Cross-Departmental Collaboration** - 1. Work closely with store teams for accurate inventory and sales reporting. 2. Collaborate with marketing to develop effective promotional campaigns. 3. Ensure coordination with finance for timely reconciliations and reporting.**Promotional Planning and Execution** -1. Develop weekly and monthly promotional plans for the category. 2. Work with marketing to execute successful in-store promotions. 3. Analyze promotional performance and adjust future strategies based on outcomes.**Training and Development** - 1. Identify training needs for staff regarding new products. 2. Coordinate with suppliers to provide comprehensive training sessions. 3. Monitor training effectiveness and make adjustments as needed to improve team performance.Qualitative Requirements:Experience (Yrs & Field) : 3 years + in Category Management in Retail Industry preferably in Electronics industry Educational Qualification : Post Graduate Professional Certifications: MBA in Sales and Marketing is DesirableSkills & Abilities Strong planning and organizing skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, negotiation, and presentation abilities.
