Salary: $100K-$120k + BonusJob Description: The Director of Safety and Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's safety and compliance programs.
This role ensures that the company adheres to all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. The Director will lead initiatives to promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with legal and industry requirements. Key Responsibilities: Safety Program Management: Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies to protect employees and company assetsConduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazardsDevelop and deliver safety training programs and materials for employees at all levelsCompliance Oversight:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FMCSA and industry-specific standardsMonitor and interpret changes in regulations and industry standards to ensure the company's policies and practices remain up-to-dateMaintain records of compliance activities and safety inspectionsIncident Management: Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actionsDevelop and manage processes for reporting and documenting safety incidentsCoordinate with insurance providers and regulatory agencies as neededExperience working with insurance company workers compensation, auto, and general liability Manage claims escalated to lawsuitsRisk Management:
Identify and assess potential safety and compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate themConduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies to minimize potential liabilitiesEnsure the implementation of safety controls and preventive measuresRegulatory Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and other stakeholdersMaintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to safety and compliance activitiesEnsure timely and accurate completion of required regulatory filings and reportsPolicy Development and Implementation:
Develop, update, and implement company policies and procedures related to safety and complianceEnsure policies are communicated effectively to employees and integrated into daily operationsReview and revise policies as needed to reflect changes in regulations and industry practicesLeadership and Team Management: Lead and manage the safety and compliance team, providing guidance and support for their professional developmentConduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as neededFoster a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organizationEmployee Engagement:
Promote employee awareness and involvement in safety and compliance initiativesAddress employee concerns and feedback related to safety and compliance mattersEncourage and recognize safe work practices and behaviorsCollaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety and compliance considerations into operational processesCommunicate safety and compliance issues and updates effectively to senior management and staffRepresent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other external partiesRequirements Education: Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications (e. g. , CSP, CIH) preferred Experience:
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in safety and compliance management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership roleSkills: Strong knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and risk management practicesExcellent leadership, organizational, and project management skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to develop and implement safety and compliance programs and initiativesStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesTechnical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPointExperience with safety management software and compliance tracking toolsFamiliarity with industry-specific safety and compliance standardsWorking Conditions:
