Surrounded by salt marshes, expansive oceanfront, and ancient maritime forests, it is situated within the chain of the Golden Isles, and just a few miles from St. Simons Island, Sea Island and Brunswick. As a State Park, Jekyll Island is a coastal haven where nature and humans peacefully co-exist.Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Campground Groundskeeper maintains the campground to include its facilities and grounds. Duties include lawn, building, and site maintenance to include general cleaning and upkeep of the grounds. Performs minor repairs as requested.Description of dutiesPerforms general maintenance, landscaping, and housekeeping duties including clean and sanitary bathrooms, buildings, and all facilities; rakes, sweeps, mops, vacuums; cleans fixtures, windows, equipment, and furniture.Demonstrates exceptional customer relation's skills, handling any customer problems that arise appropriately according to established procedures and specific situations.Removes trash and debris throughout the campground.Cleans campsites as necessary to maintain clean and attractive areas to camp.Dispenses propane to provide visitors with fuel. (Must be certified. Will train)Performs general landscaping duties to include mowing grass, trimming bushes and shrubs, and removing weeds, dead trees, and limbs as needed.Assists manager by maintaining a current register of campers and their location.Makes minor electrical and plumbing repairs as needed to ensure safe, well-functioning systems.Maintains sewer dumpsites as required.Follows established safety and first aid procedures, including proper documentation of accidents.Performs other duties as assigned.QualificationsMust be at least 18 years old.Must have valid drivers license.Previous landscaping and maintenance experience requiredPrevious campground operations experience a plus.May consider any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.Must be friendly, helpful with the desire to work with visitors.Must be reliable and friendlyFlexible availability, including weekends and some holidays.Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required.Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsExert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.More than 50% of the typical work day may be spent walking, sitting, standing and using repetitive motions of the wrists, hands or fingers.Between 25% and 50% of the typical work day may be spent climbing stairs, pushing and pulling.Less than 25% of the typical day is spent balancing, stooping and/or crouching, kneeling, reaching.Sensory abilities required are feeling, grasping and touching with more than 50% of the time spent talking and hearing.Visual abilities to perform tasks required are to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment and determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.The majority of the work is performed outside with exposure to extreme heat, high humidity and occasionally adverse weather conditions as well occasional extreme cold.Will be exposed to hazards such as moving mechanical parts and moving vehicles..May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, oils, odors, dusts, mists, or poor ventilation.May be subject to close quarters, such as narrow aisles or passageways/hallways.Noise levels are generally considered normal, occasionally loud.This description of job responsibilities is intended to reflect the significant responsibilities and duties of the job.
