The Chief Accountant leads the organization's reporting and analysis functions. This role provides commercial and operational support to drive performance improvements, ensures financial data integrity, and fosters a culture of continuous improvement. The Chief Accountant supervises the accounting team, coordinates audits and tax compliance, and supports strategic decision-making through insightful financial analysis. Key Responsibilities· Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the preparation of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans, ensuring alignment with business objectives. · Financial Reporting: Oversee the timely production of monthly management accounts, including detailed analysis and commentary on financial variances.
Ensure monthly preparation of P&L and balance sheet schedules following reporting timelines and accounting standards. · Performance Analysis: Provide ongoing analysis and insights into business performance, identifying risks and opportunities to support strategic decision-making. · Financial Controls: Application of Accounting Policies and the checks and balances carried out, fraud prevention, and protection of the integrity of the Company’s financial position. · Audit and Compliance: Lead the execution of annual external audits and ensure full compliance with all tax and regulatory requirements. · Process Improvement: Continuously assess and enhance financial processes and systems to drive efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. · Data Management:
Improve the quality, accessibility, and utilization of financial data, fostering a data-driven culture across the organization. · Strategic Projects: Contribute to special projects as required, providing financial expertise and commercial insights. Critical Qualifications/CompetenciesStrategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong Excel and data analysis skills, as well as tax compliance and tax planning skills. Excellent communication skills with proven stakeholder engagement skills. Ability to work productively, efficiently and effectively with initiative and drive under tight deadlines. Total of 5 years Accounting experience, and two years’ experience as a senior accountant.
First degree in Accounting/Management and completion of ACCA Level 1.
