Job Description

The starting wage is $18. 00 per hourJob SummaryInterpretive Rangers conduct educational programs about the Snake River Canyon’s prehistory and the Celebration Park area, including petroglyph tours, interpretive walks to the Historic Guffey Bridge, and hands-on discussions of the life ways of the Paleo, Archaic, and historic native Americans of the region. Other duties include supervising the atlatl range, leading virtual programs, maintaining the facility (including cleaning restrooms), and supporting re-vegetation and sustainable program development.

Key ResponsibilitiesEducation and Program DeliveryWork closely with groups of children, professional researchers, and the general public; organize school groups and agendasMake program assignmentsDeliver materials to the students and teachers, showing consistency of information between groupsDevelop and present all aspects of the programAssist with creation of annual work planFacility and Grounds MaintenanceMaintain the Celebration Park facility by cleaning restrooms, cleaning the visitor center, and keeping the grounds litter-freeAssist with daily set-up and breakdown of venuesLead in implementing the re-vegetation of Celebration Park including:

Planting, transplanting, cultivating and caring for native plantsAdhering to irrigation schedules and collecting native seeds and planMowing, trimming, chipping, weed-eating, and rototilling as assignedMaintain existing trees and assist with additional arboricultureOther DutiesHandle emergenciesTrain staff membersAssist with phone logs and scheduling requestsOther duties as assignedQualificationsSkills and AbilitiesMust be able to learn the required materialsAbility to become proficient in and learn the technology used in virtual field tripsSpecial QualificationsMust successfully complete a background investigationValid driver’s license requiredEducation And ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED equivalency required, college education preferredEssential Physical AbilitiesClear speech with or without an accommodation, to effectively convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly and/or quicklySufficient clarity of hearing with or without reasonable accommodation to enable the employee to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary informationVisual acuity, with or without an accommodation, to read instructions, review and organize documentsRequires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasksRequires sufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, up to six (6) consecutive hours in a shiftSufficient personal mobility, agility, strength, and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodation, to lift up to 25 pounds, operate machinery, work in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather and fluctuating temperaturesDisclaimerTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the primary job responsibilities satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
