Job DetailsDescriptionJOB RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop and implement strategic plans aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the health center. Foster a culture of excellence, equity, and continuous improvement. Represent the organization in public forums, advocacy efforts, and community engagement initiatives. In an advisory capacity to the Board of Directors, establishes strategic direction and focus for all the Health Center programs and services. Provides leadership to health center staff; supervise all phases of the health center’s programs and services. Oversees ongoing health center operations in conjunction with senior leadership. Responsible for all decision making involving general operations of the agency.

Communicates and oversees implementation of all policies determined and approved by the Board of Directors. Supervises CFO in preparing the health center’s yearly operating budget, and managing the health center’s financial condition/budget on an ongoing basis, subject to the approval of the appropriate committee’s and the Board of Directors. Ensures oversight of proper controls for all income and expenditures, as well as proper maintenance of insurance. Spearheads diversification of funding sources, creatively seeking new avenues, initiating relationships/ contacts, and overseeing their development.

Reviews and approves funding proposals prior to submission to appropriate granting and contracting agencies. Maximizes agency’s effectiveness by ensuring oversight in the analysis of human resources actions, including staffing (hiring, transfers and promotions), training and development, and performance management of all agency employees. Maintains personal and health center visibility within the community (local, state and national level) through media appearances, serving as speaker for professional functions, advocating for specific defined policy decisions, and serving on key committees and task forces. Builds alliances as well as collaborative efforts with other appropriate human service agencies in the community.

Other duties as assigned. Serve as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors. Provide regular updates on organizational performance, strategic initiatives, and risk management. Support board development and governance best practices. SafetyEnsures proper hand washing according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Understands and appropriately acts upon an assigned role in the Emergency Code System. Understands and performs assigned role in agency’s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP). JOB SPECIFICATIONS EducationMaster’s Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field is required. .

Training And ExperienceDemonstrated expertise in managing a health and/or human services agency and should have a minimum of five years experience in a progressively responsible managerial capacity, including supervision of a professional staff. Minimum of 7–10 years of senior leadership experience in healthcare or nonprofit management. Proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development. Strong understanding of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), community health, and public health systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Commitment to health equity and serving underserved populations. Job KnowledgeBilingual (English Spanish) is preferred.

Computer knowledge should include experience with EMR, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel. Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills to meet programs’ goals, interact with staff, partners, vendors and clients are required. Excellent problem solving and decision-making are required to multitask, delegate and respond to day-to-day issues. Ability to work with multicultural and diverse population is required. Membership in community and professional associations, election to leadership positions in such associations, and receipt of awards for community service and excellence in professional service are preferred. Supervisory ResponsibilitySupervises Executive Senior Management Team. S/he has indirect supervision of all other employees.

Contact ResponsibilityThe responsibility for external and internal contacts is frequent and highly important. Physical RequirementsThis work requires the following physical activities: constant sitting, hearing/ visual acuity, talking in person, talking in the phone, vision for close work and driving. Frequent walking and bending are required. Occasional standing and stretching/reaching are needed. Work is performed mainly in office settings and community settings when it comes to meetings and fundraising events.
