Title: Career Consultant Department: Centre of mastery, personal, professional and academic success (CoMPPAS)Tenure: Full-time PermanentLocation: 123 St Stephens Green, Dublin 2Reporting to: Head of Career DevelopmentAbout the postThe ideal candidate will be a graduate and qualified careers professional, preferably with experience in higher education. You will have a student-centered approach, strong knowledge of career planning and healthcare career progression (both local and international), and the ability to deliver personalised guidance and coaching.Key responsibilities:• Provide general and specialised career guidance and advice to students and graduates up to 3 years post-graduation preferred professional training pathway.• Deliver personalised and relevant 1:1 and group career consultations and coaching to undergraduate and full time post graduate RCSI students and graduates across all schools.• Develop and deliver career workshops, programmes and presentations on recruitment and selection, career development opportunities and effective job and postgraduate training search strategies.• Research and produce specific resources relevant to each chosen profession to include relevant career pathways, labour market trends, employer expectations, graduate destinations and career progression opportunities.• Take a professional, informed and proactive approach when responding to student and stakeholder queries at all time.• Support and advise students and recent graduates in relation to licensing examination preparation and local and international professional residency/internship opportunities and associated application processes.• Advise and support students with regard to observorship, research and clinical elective opportunities in collaboration with the Director of International Electives.• Organise and contribute to specific events to promote career development and career progression opportunities (both on and off campus).• Maintain accurate and up to date career development records for all students accessing the service.• Record and assist with the preparation and collation of data relating to Career Development service activity, quality assurance and strategy KPI’s.• Provide insights to stakeholders and heads of schools on emerging trends in student activity and labour market.• Assist with the preparation and collation of data for the annual First Destinations report and continuing graduates report• Contribute to the ongoing improvement and development of the career development service and associated systems and processes.• Develop and manage professional and effective working relationships with academic colleagues across the University and other key internal and external stakeholders as necessary to ensure service excellence• Creatively promote and engage students with the Career Development Service via social media and emerging platforms• Keep up to date with emerging research, theory and practice in the field of career coaching and guidance• Collaborate with RCSI faculty on RCSI initiatives that support student and staff personal & professional growth• Contribute to collaborative clinical elective program by collaborating with key stakeholders and being part of decision-making process• Remain current with local and international career progression requirements and pathways for future healthcare graduates, including professional licensing, and effectively communicate same to staff and students.• Contribute to events and activities of Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services, UK (AGCAS) and Association of Higher Education Careers Services, Ireland (AHECS) and other professional bodies with direction.• Adopt a flexible approach when needed, some weekend and evening work is required to meet needs of students in professional degree programmes.• Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time, representing the best interests of RCSI Careerhub and CoMPPAS at all times.• Performing other duties as may be required from time to time.Essential Qualifications / TrainingThe successful candidate will have:• A primary degree.• A relevant postgraduate qualification e.g., Guidance and Counselling, HR, Coaching.• Professional membership of the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC) or equivalent.Knowledge & Experience – (Essential):• Excellent interpersonal skills with high levels of self- motivation and proven ability to multi-task and prioritise workload effectively.• Proven capacity to build effective professional working relationships with ability to network and influence colleagues, students, faculty and stakeholders.• Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to present competently to audiences both in person and via a variety of platforms.• Effective project management skills with demonstrated ability to see projects through to completion.• Strong IT & data analytics in particular Microsoft Office & CRM with a familiarity with Virtual Learning Environments such as Moodle and ePortfolio tools along with social media experience.• Experience in data analysis to provide effective insights to stakeholders and identify potential risk early.• An innovative and flexible approach to career advising and delivery of career development programmes within a demanding professional learning environment, including curriculum integration of career development initiatives.• Excellent small and large group facilitation skills.• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.• Previous experience working as a Career Advisor/Coach/Guidance counsellor in a secondary level or Higher Education Institution (HEI) or a healthcare/educational environment.Knowledge & Experience – (Desirable):• Experience of, or ability to demonstrate a detailed knowledge and understanding of healthcare career planning and associated professional licensing, internship/residency and healthcare career progression pathways at home and internationally would be an advantage.• Experience in developing and/or using technology to enhance student career development and employability• Knowledge of trends in the healthcare labour market and future skills needs and ability to pro- actively anticipate changing landscape and respond to
