Function: Cargo Traffic AgentDepartment: Operations SupportReports to: Operations Support ManagerPurpose of the RoleThe Cargo Traffic Agent ensures the efficient and safe handling of all ground operations related to cargo traffic. The position is responsible for guiding truck drivers both landside and airside at inbound and outbound gates, managing administrative procedures using Swissport’s digital tools, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations. The role is offered as an initial interim position with the possibility of a permanent contract.Key ResponsibilitiesReceive and guide truck drivers for loading and unloading activities at landside, inbound, and outbound gatesMonitor and process import and export documentation at both flight and truck levelManage slot reservations through the Dock Management System (DMS) and ensure timely order executionApply and verify truck seals in accordance with security requirementsEnsure compliance with all safety and access control proceduresPrepare damage reports (DRC) and daily shift reportsRead and interpret CMRS messagesPrint CPM labels for ULD distribution (created by the IMP Office)Execute LUC IN/OUT registrations for ULDs and coordinate with the ULD teamManage traffic flow and ensure smooth vehicle movement on the ramp and landside areasOversee import/export documentation processes and record-keepingSupervise handling of trolleys and equipment from external companies in coordination with the WarehouseAssist warehouse personnel on the Castor deck as requiredWork within a three-shift rotation (morning, evening, and night), including weekends and public holidaysEnsure compliance with environmental legislation and apply internal environmental policies and proceduresKnowledge and SkillsKnowledge of internal and external safety regulations and air cargo security standardsUnderstanding of truck and dolly operations and ULD handlingFamiliarity with transport and customs documentationBasic proficiency in Microsoft OfficeStrong command of Dutch and French; working knowledge of English for operational systemsAbility to use handheld terminals (HHT), tablets, and related digital devicesIndependence and ComplexityThe Cargo Traffic Agent operates independently within established safety and operational procedures. The role includes responsibility for receiving trucks in compliance with safety standards and assigning drivers to specific gates or lanes as required.ResponsibilitiesEnsure that all tasks are performed correctly and in accordance with company SOPs and LOPsMaintain accurate and timely documentation and communication with internal stakeholdersInternal and External ContactsTruck and dolly driversInternal departments: Office, Trucking, Import, Warehouse Foreman, Warehouse Supervisor, Acceptance, and CustomsDirect supervisor for procedural follow-up and operational updatesExternal handlers, airport authorities, suppliers, and customersWorking EnvironmentThe position operates within a dynamic 24/7 environment. Flexibility, stress tolerance, and strong problem-solving skills are required to perform effectively under varying operational conditions and during peak periods.
