Job Description

RoleThe Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing day-to-day on-site engineering and technical operations. They work close with the Consultant Engineer & Design team in order to deliver high-quality, safe, and cost-effective construction projects. The Site Engineer ensures technical accuracy, compliance with specifications, and coordination of site activities with the wider project team. This position is for multiple sites based initially in Malahide and Dunboyne.

ResponsibilitiesTechnical oversight and site coordinationSupervise and monitor engineering site works in accordance with the construction programme and technical drawings – including roads, paths, drainage, water, utility provider infrastructure, foundations, floors, major structural elements of buildings, plot and site development works. Acting as the primary technical adviser on site for specialist subcontractors, including groundworks, piling, concrete, and structural steelCoordinate between subcontractors, site supervisors, and other trades to ensure smooth workflow and delivery of works.

Manage Uisce Éireann connections, including completion of work, compliance with Code of Practice and Standard Details, testing, inspections, preparation of QA Folders, completing work necessary for issue of Conformance Certs and Completion Certs and release of bonds. Manage ESB connections, including completion of work in accordance with ESB Networks standards and guidelines, scheduling inspections and connections. Manage Eir / Virgin Media / Siro and installations and connections. Manage public lighting installation, including connection applications, inspections, testing, etc. Conduct daily site inspections and report on progress, risks, or issues to the Construction Director.

Ensure all works are carried out to the highest quality standards, comply with building regulations and are completed in accordance with drawings and specifications. Planning the work and efficiently organising the plant, site facilities and materials to meet agreed deadlines. Managing the Take in Charge process for completed developmentsSetting out and surveyingPerform setting out duties using total stations, GPS, and traditional methods. Ensure accuracy of levels, dimensions, and alignment of all construction elements. Monitor and check as-built drawings and record daily site measurements as required.

Health & Safety and compliancePromote a safety-first culture across the site, ensuring all safety procedures and legislation are followed. Assist in enforcing the company’s health and safety policies and undertake site inductions and toolbox talks. Identify and escalate any unsafe conditions, near misses or breaches of regulations. Documentation and reportingMaintain accurate site records, including diaries, RFIs, checklists, drawings, and daily reports. Capturing as built information for all engineering works. Preparation of the Safety File inputs for all engineering-related works. Preparation of the submission to the Local Authority for Take in Charge of completed developments.

Assist with preparing progress reports for management and tracking project milestones. Support the QS with procurement and reviewing subcontractor/supplier claims and valuations. Detailed record keeping of QA inspections on a daily/weekly basis. Team collaboration and project deliveryWork closely with architects, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to resolve technical queries and design issues. Attend regular site and coordination meetings, providing updates and contributing to decision-making. Ensure delivery of the project within programme, quality, and budget requirements.

RequirementsDegree in Civil Engineering6+ years’ experience in a site engineering or similar role, within residential construction in IrelandProficient in setting out using GPS, total stations, and surveying equipment. Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building regulations, and health & safety standards, Uisce Éireann Codes of Practice and Standard Details and ESB Guidelines. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a wider team. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately. Proficient in MS Office and AutoCAD; experience with project management software is an advantage.
