Cashier

Summary: An accountable Cashier is an upbeat, energetic team member with a positive attitude who greets students and guests in the college Campus Store. The cashier's primary role is to assist customers in the in-store check-out process. The main duties include ringing up sales, bagging items, collecting payment and giving appropriate change, stocking the front end and ensuring the store is organized and clean. The Cashier is responsible for counting the contents of the cash register drawer at the end of each shift, maintaining receipts, records, and withdrawals.

The Cashier is also responsible for checking materials and supplies and reporting when stock is low. The hours needed for this part-time position include Wednesday & Thursday from 9: 00 am to 7: 00 pm, and Friday from 9: 00 am to 5: 00 pm with an hour meal break each day. The position pays between $17 to $18 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurateCollect payments whether in cash or creditIssue receipts, refunds, change or ticketsRedeem stamps and couponsCross-sell products and introduce new onesResolve customer concerns, refer complaints to the Store Manager, and provide relevant informationGreet customers when entering or leaving the storeMaintain clean and tidy storeTrack transactions on balance sheets and report any discrepanciesHandle merchandise returns and exchangesManage storefront stockComplete end-of-day proceduresStay up to date on all program start datesMaintain stock and fill vending machines Ensure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition.

This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
