Dorset Travel was formed in 2008 and are committed to providing a high quality service for the residents of Dorset. As a Team, we coordinate and support the Home to School transport provision to Special Education Needs Establishments and Mainstream Schools. In addition, transport is provided for Adult Day Centre visitors, members of the public as well as Child Care provision.The combined ‘in house’ and contracted fleet carry over 13,000 passengers every day on various services and routes across Dorset as well as out of county.We are currently recruiting Casual Passenger Assistants to support young people with additional need in the Yeovil / Sherborne area. Term Time Only basis, commencing at £12.85 per hour.The role of a Casual Passenger Assistant is to support young people providing additional assistance in providing and maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school, this can be on an one to one basis or on shared transport. Casual Passenger Assistants cover Regular Passenger Assistant absence.Further InformationDorset Travel is looking for caring, flexible and responsible candidates with an understanding of young people with additional needs.Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times.You Must Haveknowledge of moderate and complex learning needsan understanding of safeguarding childrenrecognition of a hazard and how to reportthe ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.Dorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.Full Training Is Provided Covering Safeguarding Manual Handling Emergency First Aid Customer CareThis post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them.
