PURPOSE & OBJECTIVE The Category Manager – Commodities is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of sourcing strategies for assigned categories, with a focus on cost savings, supplier performance, and alignment with operational needs. This role collaborates closely with stakeholders and suppliers to ensure optimal procurement outcomes across the value chain.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Category Management :Support the Senior Category Manager in developing and executing strategies for designated categories to deliver value, cost savings, and risk mitigation.Supplier Engagement :Manage day-to-day relationships with suppliers, ensuring service levels, quality standards, and contractual obligations are met.Market Intelligence : Gather and analyze market data, price trends, and supply risks to support sourcing decisions and ensure competitive advantage. Sourcing and Contracting :Lead sourcing initiatives, including RFx processes, evaluations, and contract drafting in line with internal policies.Cost and Spend Analysis :Monitor and analyze spend across assigned categories to identify savings opportunities and support forecasting.Performance Reporting :Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), supplier performance metrics, and savings achievements.Governance and Compliance :Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, ethical standards, and relevant regulations.Stakeholder Collaboration :Liaise with internal departments such as operations, legal, and finance to ensure procurement solutions meet operational requirements.Continuous Improvement :Proactively identify process improvement opportunities within the procurement function and contribute to their implementation.Safety Management :Demonstrate personal commitment regarding safety and environmental and Social Responsibility practices. Ensure every person within the team is fit for work.Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used.Ensure all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with Company standards and procedures. Keep statutory and internal reporting as required.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in any Engineering Discipline; and / orMasters degree in Supply Chain / MBA / Professional Qualification. Minimum 4+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain, preferably in the mining or industrial sectors.Strong commercial awareness and analytical skills.Experience in contract management, supplier negotiations, and category sourcing.Familiarity with ERP and procurement systems.Effective interpersonal and communication skills to engage suppliers and cross-functional teams.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.Knowledge of ESG considerations in procurement is a plus.A proactive mindset and strong ethical standards.TYPE OF CONTRACT : Long term - Residential
