Post Title: Catering Assistant Post Status: Long – Term Temporary Full & Part-time Positions AvailableA panel will be formed to fill future vacancies Department: Catering Department Location: Beaumont Hospital & Affiliated Sites Reports to: Catering Management Team or other nominated Manager Salary: Appointment will be made on the Catering Assistant Scale (€35,547 - €43,150) at a point in line with Government pay policy Hours of work: Full-time/Part-Time on a Monday to Sunday 5/7 daytime rosterWorking hours vary on a 8 hour daily shift for full-time hours. Job Summary: The successful candidate will provide efficient, high quality Catering Services to patients at ward level, the staff restaurant, the Green Bean Café and production area, while complying with all Food Hygiene Regulations and internal procedures.Responsibilities Principal Duties & Responsibilities: Maintain compliance with Hospital Policies and Procedures, e.g. Food Safety, Hazard Analysis and Critical ControlPoints (HACCP), Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Health and Safety, Moving and HandlingRegulations. To bring deviations from HACCP standards/requirements to the attention of the CateringManagement and to co-operate fully with the implementation of the principles of HACCPFollow all cleaning schedules with due regard to specified standard operational procedures Undertake regular training, as and when required, including yearly food safety refresher training, infectioncontrol refresher, manual handling refresher and fire safety training, children first, new cleaningMethods/procedures And Any Other Training Required Probing and recording of food temperatures in full as required Assist with stock rotation and stores Assist with hospital functions when required Operation of cash register and cash handling procedures as and when required Manual and mechanical washing of dishes, pots and utensils to HACCP standards when required Early breakfast shifts as and Late Night Tea shifts as and when required Transportation of food through the Hospital site as and when required which can include food trolleys Distribute and collect menu cards at ward level Preparation, service and distribution of snacks, meals and functions to patients, staff and visitors exercising portion control and maintaining the highest standards of presentation. Distribute and collect patients trays at each meal service, ensuring that plates are scrapped and each dirty itemis separated prior to the trolley returning to the main kitchen At ward level keep food stock levels at a minimum and order in accordance with departmental procedures ie: allstores to be ordered on Stores Order Sheet and signed appropriately Distribute carafes of water to patients morning and evenings and when necessary Notify Catering Management or other relevant staff of faulty equipment, building / equipment repairs, maintenance requirements, requests for chemicals / personal protective equipment / light equipment. To record incidences when required in order to comply with Health & Safety Keep a record of any complaints or compliments received from patients and pass on to Catering Officer Report any food waste or misuse to Catering Officer To perform duties efficiently, effectively and economically and in line with best practice or as directed by Management The job description is an outline of the post as it is currently perceived by the hospital and will be subject to review and amendment. Qualifications Selection Criteria: Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post.Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.
