Chartering Manager / Freight TraderAbout the roleNavi Merchants is entering an exciting new phase – with new leadership, new eco-friendly vessels coming in, fresh energy, and continued growth – also across our deep-sea activitiesWe’re now looking for an experienced Chartering Manager / Freight Trader to help shape that next Deep Sea chapter (‘Deep Sea’, this is what we call vessels of 20,000+ dwt).You’ll take responsibility for fixtures, negotiations, and voyage results across a range of dry cargo trades – working closely with colleagues, our sister companies and partners within Copenhagen Merchants Group.It’s a hands-on role with real impact, where understanding the various parts of the value chain, good judgment, commercial drive, and collaboration make the difference.Your focusProvide daily freight rate guidance to internal and external grain/agri-clients – with the aim of driving firm sales and building a trading book on the back of it.Charter in vessels, trade speculatively, and manage freight arbitrage positionsMonitor markets for commercially viable opportunities and shifting freight dynamicsGather and analyse market intelligence from brokers, owners, and other sources to assess and project freight levels accuratelyShare insights on grain and bulk flows, competitor activity, and supplier movements with the team where relevantBuild and maintain strong relationships with charterers, owners, and brokersOptimize vessel choice, performance and voyage results in close collaboration with Operations and other stakeholdersBalance spot and period exposure based on market outlook and risk appetiteIdentify and develop new trade routes, clients, and partnershipsContribute to ensuring CM Navigator reflects the best and most up-to-date market data.Contribute actively to Navi’s commercial development and long-term growthWho you areYou’re an experienced dry bulk chartering professional with a solid grasp of markets, cargo flows, and tonnage dynamics. You know how to turn insight into fixtures - and you enjoy the pace, precision, and problem-solving that comes with the job.5’ish+ years of chartering experience (spot and/or period)Strong network across the dry bulk marketSound understanding of voyage economics, laytime, and C/P termsProficient in IMOS/VIP and MS OfficeFluent in English & DanishCurious to smaller vessels despite being uncharted territoryReferences will characterize you as a team-playerYou know who our new CEO is!
