Summary Of PositionStaff Accountant performs a variety of duties such as maintaining the general ledger, reviewing financial statements, preparing financial reports, assisting with audits and budgeting processes, and reconciling accounts. The Staff Accountant reports to the Chief Financial Officer at Check-Mate but will work closely with the Senior Staff Accountant, Accounting Assistant and Senior Executives. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Includes, but may not be limited to the followingAccount Payables and ReceivablesManages and posts all internal and external bills, ensuring timely payment and prepare weekly Accounts Payable Aging ReportsMaintains the billing system, assists with collection efforts when needed, process payments, account reconciliations, and prepare monthly AR Aging ReportsUpdates account receivable and/or accounts payable and perform reconciliationsPrepares payments by accruing expenses; assigning account numbers; requesting disbursements; reconciling accountsBank and Account ReconciliationsConducts monthly reconciliations between accounting records and bank statements ensuring that all records are accurateReconciles bank statements, credit card statements, and other accounts to identify and correct any discrepanciesGeneral Ledger ManagementPrepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and files; reconciling accountsPrepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and from departmentsMaintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data; scheduling required jobs; verifying dataAuditing and Internal ControlsAssists with internal audits and helping to maintain strong internal controls to prevent fraud and errorsDevelops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending changesMonth-End ClosingAssists in the processing of balance sheets, income statements, and other financial statements according to GAAPUpdates financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when neededAssists in the monthly reporting process including compiling financials and evaluating variancesAnalyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports; verifying informationGeneral AdministrationAnswers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting dataProtects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
