We have an exciting lead Chef/Cook opportunity available in our newest Columbus Coffee Café. This café is situated in the Mitre 10 Wellington Central store on Tory Street. This will be café number 76 across New Zealand. Columbus Coffee cafés are all owned and operated by Kiwis for the past 30 years, making Columbus Coffee the largest and oldest owned and operated café chain in New Zealand. We have amazing and proven systems with award winning consultants on hand to help our team.The appointed chef/cook for this new café is someone that will go above and beyond to offer our customers a premium dining experience. They need to have an incredible personality, fit in with the team and be willing to help and support throughout the café. What do we offer?Competitive pay rateEarly starts & early finishes, usually 6:00 am till 3:00 pm (to be confirmed)Well equipped kitchenTraining and upskillingGreat staff discounts in café and Mitre 10As the Cafe ChefYou will contribute to the successful running of the kitchenYou will be given a full induction and training but will need to be confident and experienced to work unsupervised.The ideal candidate for this role willBe a team player with good communication skillsBe a professional who strives to maintain high standards and who takes real pride in the quality of the foodBe solution focused with an ability to manage stressful situations effectivelyBe confident with stock control systems, costing food products and food complianceHave a solid understanding of the FCP and H&S in cafésIdeally have at least 12 months experience as a chef working in a busy café kitchen with great experience in cooking short order brunch meals and baking skills to help with preparing savoury and sweet food cabinet itemsBe able to work on a 7 day roster which will include weekdays, weekends and public holidays as requiredResponsibilities includePrepare and cook meals as per Columbus Coffee standardsPrepare baked goods for cabinet, ensuring innovation and freshnessCreating seasonal local favourite dishesProductivity, stock control and rotationEnsure daily monitoring and control of all food purchasing, purchasing specifications and food stock control.Follow and maintain our high standard of Food Safety compliance.Only short-listed applicants will be contacted.Please note applicants must be legally able to work in NZ.
