The VIRPATH laboratory at the International Center for Research in Infectiology (CIRI) is inviting applications from motivated, independent postdoctoral researchers to lead cutting edge projects focused on deciphering the host response during respiratory infections caused by viruses and atypical bacteria, including Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumoniae and Bordetella pertussis.This two year position, fully funded by ANR, is part of the REVIDA industrial chair in partnership with bioMérieux (www.revida.fr) The overarching goal is to develop innovative diagnostic strategies for respiratory infections by analyzing host responses rather than relying solely on pathogen detection.A key objective is to define a nasal host response signature to better identify infection etiology, guide second line diagnostics, and improve both patient management and antibiotic use Both nasal swabs collected from infected patients and in vitro infection model using a nasal derived reconstituted human airway epithelium (HAE) system will be used to identify specific host signature.The research will be conducted within the framework of the CIRI, in collaboration with the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and the Lyon University Hospital (HCL).CandidatesApplicants are expected to have a strong background in RNAseq in sillico analysis, virology bacteriology, and/or cellular molecular biology Ideal candidates are expected to be highly motivated, curious, and enthusiastic about working in a collaborative research environment Strong skills in setting research goals, meeting deadlines, working independently, and adapting to evolving project needs are essential A proactive mindset, organizational ability, and willingness to contribute to other ongoing studies are also important Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are required.ApplicationCandidates are invited to contact sophie trouillet assant@chu lyon fr and caroline dupre@univ lyon 1 ,fr for further details Please send an application with a cover letter, a concise summary of previous research activities and a curriculum vitae including publication list and contact details for 2 3 refereesDeadline for application 30 th of November 2025
