Chief Accounting Officer

Our client, a start-up life and annuity reinsurance company, and backed by a leading global financial services organization, is seeking an experienced Chief Accounting Officer to lead its reinsurance accounting operations. This senior leadership role is based in Bermuda, with preference given to candidates who currently hold Bermuda work authorization.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee end-to-end reinsurance accounting processes, including assumed and ceded transactions.Interpret and operationalize complex reinsurance contracts (coinsurance, funds-withheld, modified co-insurance).Ensure compliance with US GAAP, US STAT, Bermuda STAT, and regulatory reporting requirements.Lead financial reporting, reconciliations, audits, and process improvements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide subject matter expertise on reinsurance data and systems.QualificationsCPA or equivalent designation.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.10+ years’ experience in reinsurance accounting within the life and annuities sector.Strong technical knowledge of reinsurance arrangements and accounting principles.Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with reinsurance tools and financial systems.Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) and Bermuda regulatory reporting.All applications are handled in a confidential manner and in accordance with Expertise’s Privacy Policy, available on our website
