The U.S. subsidiary will focus on financial governance, accounting oversight, and operational excellence to strengthen Upbit’s transparency, reliability, and long-term competitiveness in the region.Job OverviewThe Chief Accounting Officer (Americas) will serve as a senior member of Upbit’s global executive leadership team, responsible for leading accounting strategy, financial reporting, and governance across the Americas.Reporting directly to the CEO, the CAO will oversee the accounting function, financial controls, audit readiness, and compliance with U.S. and international accounting standards. This role will be critical in ensuring financial integrity, operational transparency, and adherence to global corporate policies and regulatory frameworks.The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting executive with extensive experience in cryptocurrency, fintech, or financial services, and a deep understanding of digital asset accounting, regulatory requirements, and global financial operations.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting Strategy & Financial LeadershipDevelop and implement Upbit’s accounting and financial reporting strategy for the Americas, ensuring alignment with corporate and regulatory standards.Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger management, consolidation, and financial close processes.Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team on financial performance, accounting policy, and risk management.Establish accounting frameworks and governance models consistent with IFRS, GAAP, and applicable digital asset accounting standards.Financial Reporting & ComplianceLead the preparation and submission of accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.Ensure compliance with local, federal, and international financial regulations, including digital asset disclosure and tax obligations.Liaise with external auditors, regulators, and internal stakeholders to maintain transparency and audit readiness.Oversee internal controls, accounting systems, and financial data integrity to ensure reliable financial outcomes.Operational Excellence & Risk ManagementDevelop and maintain policies, procedures, and internal control systems to mitigate financial and operational risks.Collaborate with legal, compliance, and treasury teams to ensure appropriate financial governance and risk oversight.Monitor the accounting implications of new products, blockchain assets, and digital transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.Provide strategic input on cash flow management, revenue recognition, and financial forecasting.Cross-Functional Collaboration & LeadershipWork closely with finance, operations, compliance, and strategy teams to ensure alignment of accounting practices with corporate objectives.Build, mentor, and lead high-performing accounting teams, promoting excellence, accuracy, and integrity.Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous improvement across all financial functions.Ensure alignment between regional accounting practices and Upbit’s global financial governance standards.Performance Analytics & Continuous ImprovementMonitor financial KPIs, control effectiveness, and reporting accuracy to identify performance gaps and opportunities for optimization.Leverage data-driven insights to improve accounting efficiency, financial transparency, and cost-effectiveness.Provide periodic updates to the CEO and board on financial performance, audit findings, and strategic accounting initiatives.Qualifications15–20 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial management, or audit leadership within cryptocurrency, fintech, or financial services sectors.Proven expertise in U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and digital asset accounting frameworks.Strong understanding of blockchain-based financial systems, digital asset valuation, and regulatory reporting requirements.Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to influence executive-level decisions.CPA or equivalent professional accounting qualification required; MBA or Master’s in Accounting/Finance preferred.Core CompetenciesFinancial Integrity: Proven ability to ensure transparency, accuracy, and compliance across accounting operations.Strategic Leadership: Skilled in developing and implementing regional accounting strategies aligned with global business goals.Regulatory Compliance: Deep understanding of evolving financial regulations and digital asset reporting standards.Analytical Rigor: Strong ability to interpret data and apply insights to improve financial decision-making.Team Leadership: Experience leading diverse teams and building high-performance accounting organizations.BenefitsCompetitive executive compensation with performance-based incentives.Participation in equity and long-term profit-sharing programs.Comprehensive health, insurance, and retirement benefits.Executive relocation and onboarding support.Opportunities to represent Upbit at major financial, blockchain, and fintech forums.Expected Outcomes (12–18 Months)Successfully establish and lead Upbit’s accounting and financial reporting function across the Americas.Deliver accurate, compliant, and transparent financial reporting aligned with U.S. and global standards.Implement strong governance, risk, and control frameworks to enhance financial reliability and compliance.Position Upbit as a trusted, financially disciplined, and governance-driven leader in the digital asset industry.
