Chief Mechanic – Onshore Drilling OperationsA leading onshore drilling contractor is seeking a Chief Mechanic to lead mechanical maintenance across its rig fleet.The Chief Mechanic will lead the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems across onshore drilling rigs, ensuring optimal equipment performance, reliability, and safety. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and adherence to operational excellence standards within one of the Kingdom’s leading onshore drilling operations.Responsibilities:Oversee all mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities for drilling equipment including engines, pumps, and rig systems.Supervise and mentor rig mechanics to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.Implement preventive maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards.Coordinate with Drilling Superintendent, Rig Manager, and Electrical teams to minimize downtime and enhance rig performance.Maintain detailed maintenance logs, inspection reports, and spare parts inventory.Ensure all mechanical operations align with the company’s mission of safety, sustainability, and performance excellence.Requirements:Technical Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.At least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, mud pumps, top drives, and other rig mechanical components.Proven experience in onshore oil & gas drilling environments.
