Chief Operating Officer (COO) Location: China - Onsite/HybridReports To: Chief Executive OfficerJob Type: Permanent/Full-timeLanguage(s): Must have fluency in Mandarin and English Position OverviewThe Chief Operating Officer (COO) will play a critical leadership role in shaping and executing the company’s operational strategy, driving excellence across all CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls) operations, and ensuring the organization’s compliance, efficiency, and long-term growth. This role requires a seasoned biopharmaceutical executive with a strong scientific background, deep operational expertise, and proven success in leading complex, cross-functional teams in a global environment.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership:Develop and implement a comprehensive CMC operation management system, optimizing processes, operational standards, and business workflows to enhance efficiency and project quality across the organization.Strategic Execution:Collaborate closely with business development and technical teams to translate customer needs into executable internal objectives, coordinate cross-departmental execution, and ensure timely achievement of key project milestones and annual business goals.Quality & Compliance:Strengthen and maintain a quality management system aligned with global regulatory requirements (FDA, EMA, NMPA), ensuring full compliance and readiness for regulatory audits and submissions.Financial & Cost Management:Lead the development of a full project cost accounting framework, identify high-cost areas, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency.Risk Management:Proactively identify operational risks, implement effective mitigation measures, and ensure stable, compliant, and resilient business operations.Leadership & Culture:Champion the company’s culture and vision, fostering a positive, high-performance work environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and collaboration.Industry & Technology Insight:Monitor and assess technological and market trends in the biopharmaceutical sector, providing strategic recommendations to align the company’s operational goals with evolving market demands.Organizational Development:Support organizational growth by developing internal talent, strengthening team capabilities, and ensuring succession readiness for key leadership roles.Qualifications & ExperiencePh.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or a related field.15+ years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including at least 10 years in senior management roles within antibody or biologics development and manufacturing.Proven track record in CMC operations, project management, business development, and cross-functional leadership.Experience working or studying overseas preferred.Technical Expertise:Comprehensive understanding of the biopharmaceutical lifecycle, including target selection, biomolecule design, process development, and GMP manufacturing.Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks (FDA, EMA, NMPA) and hands-on experience with IND/BLA submissions in China and the United States.Leadership Skills:Exceptional strategic thinking, execution, and communication abilities.Ability to manage complex operations and align teams toward shared objectives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
