Odgers Ireland is proud to partner exclusively with EirGrid, Ireland’s independent electricity Transmission System Operator, in the search for a dynamic Chief Operations and Asset Management Officer (COOAM).This is a high-impact opportunity to join the Senior Executive Leadership Team of a mission-driven organisation at the forefront of Ireland’s energy transformation. As COOAM, you will lead the secure and efficient operation of the national electricity transmission system and market, shaping the future of Ireland’s energy infrastructure and resilience.The Operations and Asset Management Office is central to the delivery of our primary role – the operation, development and enhancement of the power system and the wholesale electricity market. The Office is also responsible for the sustainable implementation of transmission system and market development to meet the future needs of all users of electricity through the growth in low carbon and renewable sources.The RoleReporting directly to the CEO, you will:Define and deliver operational strategy for Ireland’s electricity transmission system, ensuring reliability, resilience, and compliance.Lead the transformation of the power system to integrate renewables, interconnection, and digital innovation.Oversee the operation of the All-Island Electricity Market and delivery of renewable energy and capacity auctions.Champion emergency planning and represent EirGrid in national and European energy bodies.Build strategic partnerships with system operators across Ireland, the UK, and Europe.Inspire a high-performing team and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.The PersonWe are seeking a seasoned leader with:A minimum of 15 years’ experience in energy, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Master’s or MBA preferred).
