Chief Safety Officer

An exciting opportunity exists with our global mining client for an experienced Chief Safety Officer based in Limpopo. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying and monitoring the application of Safety control systems and procedures according to organisational and legislative requirements. Managing the execution of activities, that the Safety Function is accountable for (e.g., OH&S system assurance, Safety management system, incident prevention, investigations) as depicted by the MHSA Regulation 2.17 and 2.19 mandatory, utilising the process as determined by the Company. Supporting the deployment of improvement initiatives defined by the Function and Operations. Minimum Requirements: Degree or Diploma in Occupational Safety / Risk / Engineering ManagementProject Management and Auditors CertificateIncident investigation skills and techniques (ICAM/RCAT/SCA10 years mining experience, of which 5 years’ must be in a capacity of a Chief Safety OfficerExperience performing Internal workshop/site inspections and participate in HSEQ management system audits Emergency preparedness and response management knowledge and experience in the mining/construction SectorEmergency preparedness and response management knowledge and experience in the mining/construction SectorExperience in developing, implementing, managing, Auditing Safety and Risk Control initiatives, programmes in risk management reports compilation, reporting and monitoringValid Driver's license Key Performance Areas: Sound knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety ActExperience performing Internal workshop/site inspections and participate in HSEQ management system audits.C-MIRM operational risk management knowledge and experience of system development and implementationPreference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) from local communities surrounding the mine.
