Chief Technical Officer / Late Co-Founder (f/m/d)Vienna | Full-time | On-SiteOur Vision3D Bioprinting is about to transform drug screening just as robotic pipetting revolutionized lab workflows. At Biomotion, we make the shift from 2D to 3D cell culture so seamless, fast, and reliable that 3D human tissue models become the obvious standard in pharmaceutical research. YOUR NEW COMPANYBiomotion is a Vienna-based biotech startup on a mission to accelerate drug development by enabling labs to build biologically relevant 3D tissue models. Our bioprinting platform is the first to deliver the reproducibility needed to scale bioprinting applications into industry, bridging the gap between biological engineering and automation in pre-clinical drug screening.We’ve secured seven-digit public research grants (including Horizon Europe), filed our first patents, and shipped initial devices to early partners. But this is just the beginning. Our first-generation system is out, and now we need a technical co-founder to lead the evolution of our platform, taking v1 beyond launch and driving the next wave of automation and integration. If you want to shape a technology roadmap that will redefine how drug screening is done, this is your opportunity.We encourage people of all genders and backgrounds to apply. YOUR NEW ROLEAs CTO and late co-founder, you will take ownership of our technology roadmap and lead the development of our bioprinting platform. This is a hands-on role where you develop concepts, define architecture, and decide how features are implemented. You will manage projects, lead the technical team, and coordinate external development partners. Acting as the central interface between hardware, firmware, and software, you ensure everything works together seamlessly.It is a broad role with staged commitments and will require you to wear many hats over time. If you love building products end-to-end, solving complex challenges, and leading a team toward ambitious goals, this is the role for you. Responsibilities·      Translate product vision into technical roadmap and actionable plans, final owner of roadmap·      Hands-on prototyping and concept development.·      Define firmware logic and integration standards.·      Manage projects and prioritize tasks across internal team and external partners.·      Own technology stack decisions and maintain engineering quality.·      Supervise system integration and testing for prototypes and production units.·      Accountable for release governance and compliance sign-off.·      Own engineering budget and vendor strategy.·      Represents technology to customers, partners, and investors; leads make‑vs‑buy and partner selection.·      Prepare for team expansion and establish scalable processes post-funding.·      Coordinate with CEO on risk management and delivery milestones. Who You Are·      Hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.·      Proven experience as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or senior technical leader in a mechatronic system.·      ~5 years of experience in building 3D printers or similar mechatronic systems from concept to delivery.·      Strong background in mechanical design, automation, and firmware integration.·      Proven ability to manage technical projects and coordinate teams and partners.·      Entrepreneurial mindset with full ownership of product outcomes.·      Comfortable making technology stack decisions and setting engineering standards.·      Evaluate feature priorities and make trade-off decisions to keep development focused and aligned with delivery goals.·      Startup mindset: bias to action, adaptability, ownership, and accountability.·      Passion for building and leading an organization, not just a product.·      Purpose-driven and excited to solve complex technical challenges while keeping the big picture in mind.·      Collaborative communicator who can lead now and scale later. What We Offer·       Competitive salary combined with meaningful equity in the company, acknowledging your contribution as a late co-founder and technological leader.25 days of paid holidays annually.Full-time, on-site role in Vienna starting ASAP.A pivotal role in shaping the product, the technology roadmap, and the future of the company.Collaboration at eye level with the founder team.A pivotal role in shaping the product, the technology roadmap, and the future of a high-impact biotech company.Your work will directly contribute to improving human health and advancing ethical drug development For legal reasons, we refer to the collective agreement minimum salary of EUR 4.204,70 (14x p.a.) for this position.
