Chief Technology Officer (CTO)Location: London (Hybrid)Type: Permanent, Full-timeWe are seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer to lead our technology organisation and define the technical strategy that drives our products and services forward. This is an executive-level role for a technology leader with deep engineering experience and a strong record of delivering scalable, maintainable systems.Role OverviewAs CTO, you will set the overall technology direction, establish architecture standards, and ensure engineering teams deliver high-quality software. You will work closely with the executive team to align technology strategy with organisational objectives and long-term growth plans.Your role combines strategic oversight with technical leadership, maintaining hands-on credibility to guide system design, promote best practices, and ensure robust software architecture principles are followed.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine the technology vision and roadmap in alignment with organisational goals.Lead and inspire multiple engineering teams, including technical leads and senior engineers.Oversee architecture decisions across the stack, focusing on maintainability, modularity, and object-oriented design principles.Evaluate emerging technologies and tools, integrating those that advance efficiency, scalability, or innovation.Implement and enforce engineering best practices, including code quality, CI/CD, testing, and security standards.Foster a high-performance culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.Partner with leadership to prioritise initiatives, manage technical risk, and support strategic planning.Technology Environment Our technology ecosystem includes:Backend:Java and Python services for integrations and data processingEvent-driven systems with RabbitMQ and KafkaContainerisation with Docker and orchestration on KubernetesDatabases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, RedisFocus on object-oriented architecture, clean code, and scalable designFrontend:React, TypeScript, Next.js, Redux, and TailwindCSSExperience with Svelte or Vue.js is advantageousMicro-frontends and component-driven developmentCloud & Infrastructure:Primarily AWS, with exposure to Azure or GCPInfrastructure as Code using Terraform or CloudFormationObservability via Prometheus, Grafana, and New RelicStrong focus on automated deployment pipelines and DevOps practicesAbout YouProven track record as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or senior technology leader managing multiple teams.Deep understanding of full-stack software architecture and object-oriented design principles.Experienced in evaluating, adopting, and scaling modern technology stacks.Excellent strategic, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence executives and engineers alike.Passionate about building engineering culture, mentoring leaders, and driving technical excellence.
