Job DetailsDescriptionPosition Summary: The Modern Languages & Cultures department seeks a passionate and energetic teacher to fill a full-time temporary teaching position beginning March 23, 2026 and lasting until June, 11, 2026. Candidates should be interested in being part of a collaborative group of teachers and working with highly motivated high school students in a diverse, mostly residential community.Temporary housing with associated residential duties may be available.Position RequirementsCandidates should be prepared to teach all levels of Chinese language classes. We especially encourage applicants with demonstrable experience teaching at the secondary level, creating student-centered lessons, fostering inclusive classroom environments, and contributing to the broader school community.Additional RequirementsA bachelor’s degree in Chinese language, literature, linguistics, or a related field is required. Experience teaching in a classroom setting for a minimum of 2 years. Equivalent experience may be considered.A commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to serving the needs of a diverse community.Willingness to enforce all school policies and rules governing student behavior.AccountabilitiesWhile individual responsibilities will vary from one faculty position to another, these are the major job duties for this position:Teaching: Faculty teach two classes in the Spring trimester (although teaching three classes could also be a possibility). All classes are student-centered discussions around a Harkness table. In order to meet the intellectual needs of the school’s talented and highly motivated students, teachers are expected to be dedicated to daily preparation for the best possible classes.Cultural Competency: Faculty are expected to demonstrate respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of Academy life.If Residing In Academy-provided Housing, Residential Associated Duties IncludeResidential Life: Faculty generally reside in campus housing and play a critical role in cultivating Exeter’s community-centered student dormitory life. Each faculty member is generally responsible for one weekend per month and one to two nights per week of dormitory duty, depending on the dormitory size.Advising: Faculty are expected to serve as mentors to student advisees throughout students’ time at Exeter. The salary range is $55,566 (step 1) to $123,480 (step 25).The hiring committee will begin the applicant review process on December 8th.
