This role will provide direct support for students by providing them with experiences of high-growth, high demand careers, and preparing them to make informed decisions about high school programs and courses of study in high school and beyond. This role will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application to ensure students gain practical skills and career exposure and develop relevant and transferable skills and knowledge. QualificationsRequiredBachelor's degree in education, Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certification, counseling, or a related field (Master's preferred). Valid teaching license. Experience in secondary education, career readiness programs, or workforce development.
Knowledge of the local labor market and postsecondary opportunities. PreferredExperience coordinating internships or other experiential learning programs. Familiarity with CTE pathways and career clusters. Ability to use career development software and student information systems. General ResponsibilitiesThe Work-Based Learning Coordinator works closely with district, school and community leaders to support Work-Based Learning Opportunities for students across the Christina School District. The Coordinator drives a culture of support, participation and facilitation of Work-Based Learning in schools and the community.
Develop, coordinate, and oversee WBL programs such as internships, job shadowing, apprenticeships, cooperative education, service learning, and school-based enterprises. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators and community partners to align WBL experiences with academic and career goals. Recruit, screen, and onboard local employers and community partners to participate in WBL initiatives. Ensure student placements are safe, educational, and compliant with federal, state, and local labor laws. Develop and maintain work-based learning documents for teachers, students & employers. Provide orientation, training, and ongoing support for students and employers involved in WBL experiences.
Monitor student progress and performance in the workplace, conduct regular site visits and evaluations. Maintain documentation of work-based learning standards, student hours, employer agreements, evaluations, assessments and other required data. Promote WBL opportunities to students and families through informational sessions, materials, and individual guidance. Ensure alignment with career pathway programs, graduation requirements, and credentialing opportunities. Stay current on WBL-related laws, policies, and best practices through professional development and networking. Design clear coursework pathways for students to earn industry certifications and/or dual enrollment or articulated credits. Collect, analyze and share data related to Work-based Learning and Post-secondary placements.
Facilitate career exploration sessions and arrange guest speakers for students. Actively participate in Advisory Board Meetings.
