The Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF) is seeking to recruit a Communications Assistant (consultancy) to support the implementation of communication activities. The role will involve assisting in the development and dissemination of content; supporting the planning, implementation and reporting of communication activities; and contributing to the overall visibility of CIFOR-ICRAF’s work. This role is suited to a motivated and detail-oriented communicator who thrives in a dynamic and multicultural environment. Duties and responsibilitiesSupport the planning and implementation of communications activities, including tracking tasks and deadlines.
Support the production of outreach and visibility content including blogs, articles, social media posts, newsletters and publications. Assist in compiling and updating media contact lists, tracking media coverage, and preparing briefing documents and press kits as needed. Support the drafting and preparation of communication reports and updates. Undertake other outreach, awareness, and visibility communication activities as agreed upon. Education, knowledge and experience Minimum qualification of bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or a related field. Excellent English language skills (both verbal and written). A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in the implementation of communication strategies.
Experience in journalism, writing, editing and content creation (blogs, impact stories and photography). Proven ability to effectively undertake communication activities. Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure. Excellent understanding of different communication formats and channels, as well as strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media. Background and understanding of environment, climate, forestry or related subject areas and science communication.
