The Role: The Library Assistant assists with maintaining holding databases, assists with cataloging and classifying library materials on the automated computer system, maintains processing manuals and Support Services equipment, mends library items, assists in training and monitoring volunteers. ÂThe ideal candidate will have one year of college level coursework in library technology or a related field and two years of experience working in a library setting. Assists with incoming new books cataloging and processing. Assists with cataloging and maintaining special collections, including seed library, backpacks, culture passes, binge boxes, and video games.
Maintains processing manuals for books and AV materials. Organizes and monitors supplies inventory. Regularly processes and updates digital holding recordsProcesses mending: taping, gluing binding, replacement barcodes, spine labels, agency, replacement inserts, replacement cases, etc. Maintains Support Services equipment: barcode machines, CAB spine label printer, RFID station. Assists with retro projects. Assists in training and monitoring of volunteers. Sorts, shelves, shelf reads, and shifts library materialsPerforms other related duties as assigned. One year of college level coursework in library technology or a related field and two years of experience working in a library setting.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
