Apply by 5/21/25 for first review. This position manages the Development Services division within the Engineering Services Department. The Development Services division provides technical review and permitting for private site-development projects, public capital improvement projects, construction inspection for both private and capital projects, as well as management of utility and right-of-way permitting for the City. This position works closely and collaboratively with the City’s Community Development Department to develop and manage effective development review systems and processes. It also works closely with the Legal Department on right-of-way activities.
Responsibilities include coordinating assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies, and providing highly responsible and technically complex staff assistance to the department director. This is a supervisory position that requires the application of professional expertise to determine facts, analyze problems, and make decisions without immediate supervisory review. The position requires professional knowledge and technical proficiency in civil engineering and land-use administration, as well as supervisory and administrative experience. The incumbent sets broad objectives and is accountable for the overall performance of the Development Services Division.
