Are you an experienced leader with established networks in public safety or emergency management?Bring your passion for community safety and resilience to this unique opportunityPartner with local and central government including Police and WREMOAbout The RoleThis role offers an exciting and unique opportunity to spearhead our efforts in ensuring the safety, well-being and resilience of our community. The City Safety Manager will shape policies, build relationships and implement innovative strategies that enhance the safety and resilience of our vibrant city. The role involves:Emergency/Crisis response: developing, activating and implementing plans where needed, coordinating with other agencies.Crime prevention and CCTV: Operating Lower Hutt's City Safety CCTV Network and working with Police to develop crime prevention strategies and leading community engagement and outreach.Community Outreach: conducing Public Safety campaigns, outreach to gather insight, boost awareness and readiness and provide training as needed.Risk management: conducting regular risk assessments (including for safety) and developing mitigation strategies.Reporting and lessons: collecting and reporting insights and identifying trends to support policy and operational decisions.Leadership: leading Council's City Safety team, and cross-Council City Safety Collaborations About YouStrong experience in public safety, emergency management, or a related field, with a proven track record of leading safety initiativesDemonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, inspire others, and drive change within a complex organisational structureExceptional interpersonal skills with a talent for building and nurturing relationships across various sectors, including government, nonprofit, and community organisationsStrong understanding of safety regulations, risk management, and resilience planning, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectivelyProficiency in analysing complex issues, developing strategic solutions, and implementing them in a timely mannerExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and inform diverse audiences.About UsAt Hutt City Council our vision is to build a connected, resilient and inclusive city where all of our people thrive - Kia noho mai tēnei tāone hei pou herenga waka, hei pou herenga kaupapa, hei wāhi whai hua ki hōna iwi.Our council has set out a bold and ambitious plan for us to achieve.
