Glenorchy City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Designer to join our Assets, Engineering and Design Department.The primary function of this position is to provide high-quality civil design services, including the preparation of detailed plans, drawings, and cost estimates to support the effective delivery of Council’s transportation and civil infrastructure projects.As an integral member of the Civil Design team, you will play a key role in the design and documentation of projects that enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity within the community.About The RoleAs a Civil Designer, you will:Undertake the investigation, design, documentation, and estimation of Council infrastructure projects, including:Road constructionCar parksTraffic managementPedestrian accessibilityLightingStormwaterStructural projectsLandscaping Apply project management principles to coordinate design development tasks and meet project timelines.Liaise with construction teams and relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of projects.Review internal and external designs for compliance with relevant engineering standards.Prepare and administer consultancies and contracts relating to civil design documentation.Provide technical input into the development and delivery of design and consultation programs for infrastructure projects.Represent the department in internal and external committees or working groups when required.Support the development and implementation of the department’s strategic and annual plans.Provide timely and accurate reporting information to the Civil Design Coordinator. Contribute to the preparation of quarterly and annual reports.About YouYou’ll bring:Advanced Diploma of Civil Engineering Design (or higher qualification) or extensive relevant industry experience.Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil engineering design, particularly in road and stormwater projects.Proven ability to design road and stormwater infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D and Civil Site Design software.Strong understanding and application of relevant engineering standards and guidelines.Competence in the use of civil engineering software and related design tools.
