Position OverviewOur client in the heavy industrial and smelting sector is seeking a highly skilled Civil/Structural Engineer to join their site-based engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong structural design, maintenance, and construction experience—particularly within demanding industrial environments. You will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading critical structural infrastructure, overseeing steel structure construction, and ensuring asset integrity across the smelter operations.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage structural maintenance programs across plant facilities, buildings, and steel structures.Conduct structural assessments, integrity inspections, and provide engineering recommendations for remedial actions.Oversee the design, detailing, and verification of steel structures, foundations, gantries, platforms, and support systems.Manage and monitor construction and maintenance projects, ensuring full compliance with engineering standards and safety requirements.Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and plant engineering to ensure efficient execution of structural projects.Prepare technical reports, construction packages, scopes of work, and cost estimates.Support shutdown planning, structural risk assessments, and site execution.RequirementsBEng/BSc/BTech/N.Dip in Civil or Structural Engineering.Minimum 5–10 years of experience in structural engineering within smelters, mining, or heavy industrial plants.Strong competency in steel structures, structural maintenance, and site-based engineering execution.Proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., Prokon, Robot, STAAD, Civil Designer, AutoCAD).Experience working with contractors and managing onsite construction activities.Solid understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and plant safety systems.Ability to work in high-temperature, heavy industrial environments.Preferred / AdvantageousSmelter, furnace, or metallurgical plant experience.Familiarity with shutdown execution and brownfield environments.Experience with structural integrity audits and asset management programs.
