(Compensation will be based on the certification currently held at time of hire)Job DescriptionPerforms skilled human support work providing basic to advanced life support and emergency medical care, including non-emergency and emergency driving, patient transport, and related tasks as apparent or assigned.

Work requires quick thinking, adaptability, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care under the supervision of the EMS leadership team. Schedules/shifts will be based on the organizational needs at time of hire. All Full-time positions are subject to 24/7/365 emergency callback in the event of natural or manmade disaster or other instances that necessitate continuity of emergency medical services. Respond promptly to emergency and non-emergency calls. Conduct rapid patient assessments and administer life support interventions, including CPR, AED use, and advanced airway management. Provide compassionate and professional care to patients.

Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and other relevant information. Communicate effectively with emergency response team members, medical facilities, and dispatch personnel. Maintain and inspect medical equipment, vehicles, and supplies to ensure readiness. Participate in continuous training and education to stay current with EMS protocols and procedures. Operate emergency vehicles in compliance with applicable laws and organizational standards. Report maintenance and supply needs to supervisors. Maintain cleanliness of base, ambulance, and equipment. Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesThorough knowledge of related industry, organization, and department policies, practices, and procedures, legal guides, recommendations, best practices, ordinances, and laws; general knowledge of the principles and techniques of emergency care, including diagnosis, proper treatment and automobile extraction and transportation; general knowledge of the reading of electrocardiograms; general knowledge of the principles of anatomy, physiology and chemistry in relation to the respiratory and circulatory systems; thorough knowledge of the street system and geography of the County; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; ability to keep simple records and prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.

Minimum Experience & EducationFor EMR (NC Emergency Medical Responder): Currently enrolled in High school and/or High school diploma or GED and Certified as a NC EMR. For EMTHigh school diploma or GED and Certified as a NC EMT. *Must obtain NC Paramedic Certification within 3 years of date of hire. For AEMT: High school diploma or GED and Certified as a NC AEMT. *Must obtain NC Paramedic Certification within 3 years of date of hire. For Paramedic: High school diploma or GED and Certified as a NC Paramedic. Associates/Technical degree in EMS preferred but not required.

Must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support, ITLS or PHTLS certification at time of hire. Technical Rescuer Certification must be completed 3 years from the date of hire. Work Environment/Physical RequirementsRegular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of over 100 pounds. Frequent standing, walking, speaking, hearing, climbing, balancing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive motions. Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, bloodborne pathogens, and other hazards, with the requirement to wear specialized personal protective equipment as needed. Special RequirementsMust be 18 years of age for all EMS positions.

Successful completion of MedPAT physical fitness test annuallyAdult, Child & Infant Basic Life Support CPR certification at time of hire. ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 must be completed within 30 days of hire. Successful completion of CEVO (Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator) within 30 days of hire. TIMS (Traffic Incident Management Course) completion within 30 days of hireValid unrestricted driver's licenseThis position is subject to random drug screeningWork Location: This role must work from the location identified at the time of hire with work travel required as needed.
