Job Title: Clinical Psychology InternSummaryOur Clinical Psychology Internship equips aspiring mental health professionals worldwide with essential skills and practical client-facing experience, preparing them for careers in clinical psychology, coaching, psychotherapy, or counselling.Interns complete an intensive one-month crash course covering a toolkit of evidence-based techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Coaching, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They then provide free online, one-to-one coaching to global clients who otherwise lack access to mental health care, initially promoting behaviour change (e.g., diet, sleep, reducing procrastination) and later progressing to clients experiencing depression or anxiety.About OvercomeOvercome is a UK-registered charity (Charity Number: 1191308), providing online mental health coaching worldwide, particularly to underserved communities in developing countries. We are a trusted placement provider for leading universities such as UCL, Bath, and Loughborough.Internship OverviewThis internship is a fully remote, unpaid, full-time (~30 hours/week) role. Approximately 80% of our alumni secure paid mental health positions (e.g., Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Support Workers) or pursue further relevant studies shortly after completion.Responsibilities1st month:Intensive training in evidence-based techniques from motivational interviewing, coaching, CBT, and ACT.Activities include live workshops, self-study, quizzes, role-plays, and assessments.2nd and 3rd month:Provide one-to-one online coaching, initially addressing behaviour change and progressing to depression and anxiety.Maintain accurate session records and attend weekly supervision with a counselling psychologist based in Kenya and monthly supervision with a UK-accredited counsellor.Opportunities to train future cohorts, assist with recruitment roleplays, and develop coaching resources.Post-Internship Opportunities70% of alumni continue volunteering flexibly after completing the internship.2% chance of securing full-time employment at a competitive salary.Some clients may pay for extended coaching sessions, mutually agreed upon between you and the client. You keep all the money and get paid by them directly. Person SpecificationPlease only apply if you have ALL of the below:Strong interest in coaching, psychotherapy, counselling, or clinical psychology.Fluency in English.Ability to commit full-time (~30 hours per week) for the full duration of the internship (Training is from 9am to 5pm UK time on weekdays in the first month).Can fund your own living expenses. We are unable to provide any salary or stipend.Able to learn quickly, perform under pressure, and demonstrate charisma and empathy.The majority of our applicants have a relevant degree, but this is not a requirement.Recruitment ProcessThree rounds of selection to accept the top 5% of applicants:CV Screening (90% pass rate) - Shortlisting suitable candidates based on CVs. We’re mainly checking that you’ll be able to commit full-time for the full 3 months.Theory quiz (30% pass rate) - Tests your ability to quickly learn and apply provided materials accurately under time pressure. Includes situational judgement and values-based questions.Roleplay assessment where you put the theory into action (30% pass rate) - Assesses charisma, empathy, and ability to think on your feet through a simulated client session, applying previously learned theory.Successful applicants will be onboarded to the team around one week before the start date. Unsuccessful applicants who have completed the role-play assessment will receive tailored feedback during the week of the internship start date. *We accept monthly cohorts on a rolling basis - our next cohort starts on 17th November 2025!
