Through the Health Care Provider Contract, Calian employs health care professionals across Canada who are integral to supporting the health and wellbeing of our military members.LocationHalifax, NSJob TypeFull TimePosition OverviewCalian is seeking Social Workers with interest in providing mental health services to Canadian Armed Forces members in their exclusive outpatient clinic located at CAF Halifax, NS.This role is ideal if you have an interest in treating the military population, operational trauma, and occupational health. This is a rewarding position where you’d make a difference in the lives of the men and women who serve our country and keep us safe.We’re seeking a full time Social Worker, up to 37.5 hours per week.ResponsibilitiesManaging crisis interventions and conducting risk assessments for individuals and familiesConducting intakes and completing bio-psychosocial assessments for a wide range of presenting issues such as work-related stress, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, suicide ideation, relationship struggles, family stress, somatic complaints, personality disorders and PTSDProviding treatment through a variety of approaches including individual therapy, couples therapy, and group treatment therapy followed by evaluation of the treatment and therapeutic outcomePresenting the clients’ care with recommendations to the inter-disciplinary healthcare teams to develop an individualized treatment planAnalyzing the clients’ needs and provide information and advice to them and their families related to access to appropriate services and resourcesFacilitating educational activities and group interventions such as pre-deployment briefings, psychosocial services overview presentations, and group psycho-education sessionsImplementing new interventions or treatment approaches such as telemedicine and virtual reality therapyDistributing local outreach material such as mental health awareness material to bases and unitsCreating and maintaining confidential client reports on treatment servicesQualificationsMust have a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Social Work from a recognized universityMust have a minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience with an adult population administering assessments, creating treatment plans, and delivering counselling services for individuals, couples, and groupsMust hold a current membership certificate with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and be authorized to provide Psycho-Social InterventionsCurrent certification or willingness to obtain CPR Level C with AEDAdditional RequirementsMust be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability levelSecurity clearancesA security clearance and/or vulnerable sector screening might be required for this position.
