Clinical Training Officer (CBRN) Civil Contingencies Response Programme The National Risk and Resilience Department (NRRD) is seeking to recruit a Clinical Training Officer for Specialist Training (CBRN) on a permanent basis. This pivotal role will primarily be based at the NRRD SORT Base in Dundee, with a national remit that requires travel across Scotland. Following significant investment from the Scottish Government, the Scottish Ambulance Service Civil Contingencies Response Programme is delivering a complex, multi-million pound initiative to enhance pre-hospital response capabilities for major and operationally challenging incidents. As part of this programme, we are offering an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of training to frontline clinical staff and Special Operations Response Teams (SORT) across Scotland.The PersonThe successful candidate will bring a flexible, proactive approach, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively within multi-agency environments. We particularly welcome applications from individuals with experience in SORT/HART operations or relevant backgrounds in CBRN/HAZMAT settings. Candidates should hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised teaching qualification (Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent). A proven track record in developing and delivering educational curricula within the service is highly desirable. Reporting to the Training & Development Manager (CBRN), the Clinical Training Officer will assist in managing all aspects of specialist CBRN training, ensuring alignment with performance targets and government requirements to support national emergency preparedness. This will be delivered within a delegated budget and in accordance with statutory and strategic objectives.Application and SelectionApplicants must be HCPC registered Paramedics, with an evidenced portfolio of Continued Professional Development (CPD). A comprehensive understanding of Special Operations and Hazardous Area Response is essential. Experience in the paramedic role is required, and additional qualifications such as Powered Respirator Protective Suits (PRPS) and clinical decontamination are highly desirable. Experience training and exercise delivery, incident management, and operational leadership will be considered advantageous.
