VACANCY: Combustion Specialist (Wind Turbines)AREA: National / InternationalAPPLY: marizel@alos.co.zaOverview:Supervise and carry out accurate installation/trouble shooting/maintenance & inspection of gas turbines combustion section according to client Specifications, engineering instructions, drawings & process instructions.Experience:•5+ Years construction and welding experience in power generation or oil & gas industry. • 5+ Years working on Gas Turbine Combustion Parts repairs. • Basic understanding of Gas Turbine units and their associate equipment. • Experience in Welding Inconel 617 material, thickness 6 – 15 mm.Education & Skills:• ISO 9606-4:1999 Approved Qualification level or equal • Certificates for Welding of Steel, stainless steel and super alloys (e.g. Nickel and nickel alloys) in different positions and different thickness. • Proven track record of similar capital projects on an international stage. • To communicate in the English language. • Able to read and understand drawings of combustion parts. • Skilled in the use of machine and hand tools. • Understanding of NDT technology.Physical Requirements:• Must be able and willing to work long hours and weekly schedules that are not uniform on a day-to-day basis. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (23Kg) Must be able to climb ladders and steps. • Extensive travel to and from projects and various field assignments is required. • International travel is required.Responsibilities:•Reporting to the Site Manager.•Supervise and carry out accurate installation/trouble shooting/maintenance & inspection of gas turbines combustion section according to client Specifications, engineering instructions, drawings.•Supervise and participate in repairs / assembly of Combustion Parts of a gas turbine such as flame tubes, mixing chamber, inner casing, bottom plates, cooling rings, tiles etc.•May be required to perform specialized welding on combustion parts according the procedures and specifications.•Supervise and participate in Welding Inconel 617 material, thickness 6 – 15 mm in different positions according spec.•Supervise and participate in welding activities on Gas Turbine CombustionSection according client Specifications and procedure.•Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.•Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.•Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.•Position and secure workpieces, using hoists, cranes, wire, and banding machines or hand tools.•Keep a record on all AS Built documentation•Report daily progress to the site manager•Maintain a safe working environment during the execution of the work
