Commercial Manager Designate (Civils)GEDON Executive is partnering with a highly respected Major Civils and Infrastructure Contractor in their search for a high-performing Commercial Manager Designate in Dublin, Ireland. This is a prime opportunity for a commercially astute professional to transition their SQS experience into senior management, overseeing significant civil engineering projects across the region.This role is tailored for an individual with demonstrable civil experience who is prepared to take on broader commercial responsibility, focusing on strategic oversight and profitability.Compensation & OpportunitySalary: Up to €100,000 depending on experience.Package: Highly attractive benefits including a Company Car, Fuel Card, and Pension contributions.Progression: Clear pathway and immediate mentorship toward full Commercial Manager responsibilities.Key Responsibilities (Management Focus)This role requires a blend of senior Quantity Surveying skills with an increased focus on strategic leadership:Commercial Leadership: Take commercial ownership of assigned civil contracts, transitioning from package management to full project commercial accountability and reporting to the Board.Contractual Strategy: Provide expert advice on the interpretation and administration of Public Works Contracts (GCCC), FIDIC, and other relevant forms, focusing on strategic contractual risk management and compliance.Financial Governance: Lead the preparation of complex project budgets, forecasts, and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs), ensuring high-level financial accuracy and control.Claims & Entitlement: Manage and lead the negotiation of major contractual claims, variations, and disputes, ensuring all commercial entitlement is rigorously secured.Subcontractor & Supply Chain Management: Oversee the commercial performance of the supply chain, ensuring robust subcontracts and efficient financial governance.Risk Management: Develop and implement robust risk management strategies specific to heavy civils, groundworks, and infrastructure projects.What You'll BringProven Experience: Demonstrable experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) with a minimum of 5-7 years' experience within a Major Civils or Infrastructure Main Contractor environment in Ireland or the UK.Sector Expertise: Strong experience in complex civil engineering projects is essential. Experience in Water, Renewables, or Heavy Civils is highly preferable but not strictly mandatory if you possess strong core civils experience.Leadership Acumen: Clear ambition and demonstrated capability to manage commercial staff, direct strategy, and lead high-stakes negotiations.Contractual Knowledge: Expert working knowledge and practical experience administering complex civil contracts (GCCC/FIDIC/NEC).Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics.
