OverviewPlastic Energy is a world leading chemical recycling company with a global mission to end plastic waste. We stand at the forefront of innovation, with a patented and proven recycling process to convert end-of-life plastic waste into feedstock, which replaces fossil oils in the production of clean, food-grade plastics.Plastic Energy is headquartered in London, with offices in Seville, Singapore and Malaysia. We currently own and operate two chemical recycling plants in Spain, with further projects underway in Europe and Asia.Plastic Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to join our small, but busy, communications team in our central London office. You would be joining a dynamic company within a rapidly growing technology sector, as we expand our global portfolio of recycling projects. We are looking for someone with a background in marketing and communications, who is comfortable working in a small team with a wide range of responsibility, in a hybrid working environment. You will have the opportunity to make this role your own and take ownership over projects, while providing overall support to the Head of Communications.Roles And Responsibilities Take ownership over social media channels, both monitoring and coming up with content on own initiative, with support from Head of Comms as necessary Manage the company intranet, keeping it up to date with any comms announcements, latest brand assets, and employee requests Manage brand assets in asset library, templates and adherence to brand guidelines, in addition to any company requests for logos or images Support internal communications to increase employee engagement, managing our Viva Engage channel, participating in planning of internal company events and activities, and working with Head of Comms to create slides for and present the monthly all-company meeting presentation Research events and awards opportunities that would be beneficial for Plastic Energy, and craft compelling awards applications, tracking progress and success rate Craft on-brand and on-message marketing materials, liaising with design agency when necessary, providing clear and detailed briefs Providing a leading role on management of event speaking and exhibitions, including preparing presentations, handling logistics and adhering to all deadlines, and keeping the events calendar up to date Monitor news stories on Meltwater and put together regular email newsletters with relevant industry news to the senior leadership team, and wider employees Ensure that web content is kept up to date, including job postings, and work with agency to track analytics and monthly performance Draft various pieces of content that have accurate messaging and are grammatically correct, and provide support with proofreading and checking other messaging documentation Keep corporate presentation and press kit up to date with latest messaging and projects Provide support to Head of Comms for any multi-channel campaigns, as necessary Provide support to Head of Comms on reporting, gathering data and preparing presentations Provide leave cover for Head of Comms, including monitoring the press inbox and handling urgent communications requests, liaising with senior leadership for additional support if necessary Help with ad-hoc admin tasks and provide occasional cover if neededPERSON SPECIFICATIONQualifications RequiredMarketing or communications degree or equivalent experience in marketing/communicationsExperience RequiredProven experience in a marketing or comms roleFluency in English, with strong writing and editing skills, and ability to draft clear and concise messagesExperience working as a self-starter and taking ownership of projects and tasks, using own initiative to complete workExperience working to deadlines in a fast-paced working environment, and strong ability to prioritise and escalate issues effectivelyPrevious experience handling event logistics and exhibitionsPrevious experience managing social media accounts, especially LinkedinPrevious experience preparing engaging presentations and marketing materials for a variety of audiencesA strong eye for design and experience creating eye-catching and engaging content, using Canva or Adobe programmesPrevious experience working with Wordpress or similar CMS system, and experience measuring performance using analyticsComfortable working independently in a small team in a hybrid environment, without the need for micromanagementDesirable ExperiencePrevious experience in the plastics, waste or recycling sectorsFluency in Spanish is a plusA strong interest and/or previous experience in sustainabilityPlastic Energy embraces diversity in all its forms and are an equal opportunity employer.
